Pruitt's slight jab

I truly truly believe if we had a half decent coach that could manage time and had any sort of play calling skills we would have had a lot more success the past few years. We had so much talent in 15 and 16, and even with what we had left in 17 we could have pulled 7 wins easily with the same team with just clock management and play calling. Everyone talks about padding three times against Florida and then taking the field goal. But even if that still were the case, the team still could have ran the clock down and kicked the field goal to end the game. Tennessee had two timeouts, Kelly and Chandler at running back at Florida got the ball back with less than a minute to go. Even if tennessee only got the field goal, three runs would have ran that clock down to zero when we kicked.

Thats the only thing that gives me hope also. 19.83 points per game and like a defense that ranked around 90th last season and only 4 wins, LOL. We HAVE to be better than that this season, i mean my lord.

Well. I think after the past decade...haha, i should learn my lesson. Buttttt ya know, hope springs eternal in the heart of every tennessee fan it seems.

But for most of those games, the defense was really good for the 1st 20-30 minutes until the hopeless offense let them stay out there too long and subsequently get exhausted.

How we won that Georgia Tech game is beyond me. Defense was on the field 75% of the game.

I agree with this. Just look at the Bama game where we held them to 14 until right before the first half with absolutely no offensive production.

The fatigue factor I agree was all too evident as to how the opponents' offense had their way with the Vols in the 2nd half in a number of games last season. Perhaps also of significance is the mental factor: once the defense realizes they ain't gonna get anything from the offense except 3-and-outs, it tends to take the starch out of you.

Sadly, it could be a lot like the baseball team. Improved, but due to the level of competition in conference, same result.

Yep that's the wild card. We're dealing with college kids, so the mental part does come into play.

Article trying to stir up something from nothing. A blind squirrel could score more points...but then again if OL doesn't block better, we'll have same problem scoring much more.

Of course it does, they truly have to buy in, I really thought we would have seen more players leaving the program by this time, with all the changes. Maybe says a lot about the coaches on staff, I hope. Anyone that has or has had a 18-21 year old in thier house, knows how often they change thier mind.

I got to hear coach make the scoring statement this week at an event in person. I have to say that I left the event feeling very good about the future of our program with CP in charge. He sure knows how to say all the right things and be real. He has a true passion for being the best and all the NC rings he has proves he knows what it takes. Fired up as much as ever! GBO

Yet another deceiving media type making this out to look like Pruitt attacked Jones. Nothing of the sort was said. The media today is by and large a giant group of lowlife scum IMHO.

Totally agree. And this media will turn on Pruitt just as quickly as they turned on the past 3 coaches if things go south.

Actually most of the fan base will.
