I don’t agree with you that it’s a Tennessee tradition. And it’s not a good idea when the play doesn’t work in the first place. Doing the same thing twice and expecting different results is the definition of insanity, yet that’s what your claiming we should do.

Nope, you don't get the point. He may have seen something in the execution that he thought wouldn't be repeated by the team. If he kept running the same play the rest of the game, that would be more of an example of insanity. I believe if you watch most games, you will see times in every game where a coach calls the same play over and over until it works. Running the same play twice in a row is not outrageous at all. It just so happens, they failed to execute both times.

Why is CJP wearing an orange potato sack?

In truth, I wasn't pleased with this hiring but I find CJP refreshing over the last decade of debacle. I think he is coaching these guys up for the first time in 10 years. For the first time in a decade, I like the way the team lines up and tries to go about its business. I don't know if he is an elite coach - and I especially don't know if he is an elite recruiter - but I want him to succeed here.

I get it they have baggage, but as a fan base this is something we need to look beyond if we want to be elite again. Other teams will grab up those guys eventually and likely see success. Why not us?

Everybody loves a redemption story, but some are reluctant to take the initial PR hit.

IMO I think Jalen Hurts would like to play for a Freeze, Petrino, or Briles.

Sankey already nixed Saban hiring Freeze and other schools were looking as well.

Depends on how long his probation period is with the SEC as to his viability.

Anybody watch it? I watched it on YouTube. Pretty standard. Talked about what they needed to do to improve. Whats interesting to me is, he keeps talking about how much they practice these fundamentals yet the players just dont execute. Hmmm. Also, he was asked about Jordan. He said that with him, and any player that hasnt played much, need to basically play better. I like the way he carries himself. Not saying he is great or anything. Just saying I like his attitude. He holds the coaches and players responsible.

Some of the players are fighting through the habit of butch fundamentals and it is often harder to relearn something the right way than it is to learn it right the first time.

Which is what I said, not expecting many wins but would be nice to see a gameplan for a known weakness. In all your wisdom are you.suggesting there is literally nothing they can do to help negate it?
Be Patient...Help is on the Way. This football program just didn't one night become an 0-8 SEC program. It took a number of years and coaches to get the program to this point. It is not going to turn around and go 8-0 this year or next year. This will also take time. I think people are being way too unrealistic to expect great things this year. Look for success to come, but not right away.

Agree 100%. How would you feel about Freeze?
I wouldn't mind freeze. I dont remember all that went on there, but I dont think he covered up rape. Impermissible benefits happen every where so I dont really care about that. The escort thing I morally wrong but he isnt raping anyone so whatever.

Yes. If Helton ends up not being the guy, then we need to go after an elite OC like Hugh Freeze or Bobby Petrino after he’s fired this year. If we’re serious about winning then they’ll at least test the waters. If not, one of them ends up at Alabama.
"Elite" and "Tennessee" do not mix when it comes to coaching. Forget those otherwise inciteful ideas of yours. Look to an FCS team with an unusual amount of success on the offensive side. You're right about one of them possibly going to Bama with Helton as an intern making just the right amount of money working under them.

lol.

you do know we explored the possibilty of hiring Freeze this year as an off field coach? just like with Bama, the SEC said no.

if there's any indication the SEC would ease up a bit, Freeze would have suitors, and i would imagine we might be one of them.

that said, i'm not convinced yet that Helton won't work out.

we're 5 games in to the first year with a team that has no offensive line and is coming off the worst season in program history.

i thinkk there' sprobably more to the equation than "the OC sucks".

Some the same for me I did like the hire after the shiano debacle preferred Pruitt to anyone else at that point. I will give him title of elite recruiter if he holds on to current class and adds the other 5star tackle. Regardless of who else would jointhe class or no one else did.
Think he does well ends up coaching here a while. I hope anyway

How shocked would we be if the Vols had the lead at the end of the 1st quarter? ........
