Problem is that the pension is discounted from a “full pension” for each year of service less than 30 and also for each year under age 60 (unless you have 30 years service). So, while you might be 45 years old with 15 years service and be “vested”, if you tried to start drawing at such a young age the “penalties” of both age and service may leave the pension with no value.You cannot teach for 10 years and then start drawing your retirement unless you are a certain age. Just because you are vested doesn’t mean you can automatically start drawing from it at any age. That is nonsense and you do not draw full retirement until you have taught for 30 years.
