I saw an article about CJP getting a2 year extension yesterday and wanted to post a thread supporting it. Then life happened and I didn't have time. Kindagladbecause I saw a new one a few mins ago kinda going into the reasons why he took his extension the way he did. It was all, to me ,a reaction to a thread about if Barnes andCJP had taken pay cuts during COVID.
I believe CJP is an answer, maybe not the final answer, but he will and is getting us back to TN football. I am a proud Tennessean, sadly I'm also a realist. We are serial overachievers at our best,, average on most days by most metrics. I'm not gonna give links. but I would like for anyone seeing this thread to get their google-fu on and find some articles talking about it all. CJP is the south, and that's me as a black man saying that with pride. I think with him and CFP as AD our football program is in great hands.
TLDR he gave up 400k this year and put it on the other end. This dude is staying and that excites me. This year is a wash. Whatever football we get this year is a bonus. but we have a number of 5th and 6th year seniors with almost no hope of NFL futures but much college-level talent talking about extending. I want us to go 10-0 in this season but honestly, I don't care if we go 4-6. this year's results are and should be on ice with a huge asterisk. Whatever football we get will be about guys that really want it. This year guys you have never heard about will ball out. Saturday is the start of something special.
