Pruitt just shut down big bob

I personally hope Jeremy's so focused on being a great coach that any improvement in the media relations aspect of his life is purely incidental, by osmosis. :)

As for Bob Kessling, he's not bad. He's not John Ward, but he's fine. We could do a lot worse.

He needs to incorporate “.....and boom goes the dynamite” into his play by play.

I'd rather have a homer as Tennessee play by play announcer than Bob or Tim Priest who go out of their way to build up the other team even when they obviously don't need it.
Priest is really painful to listen to. His voice is terrible and he doesn't even seem to know all the players. I know he's a VFL, which is great, but they really need some new blood in there.

If the man didn't want to be the face of the program, he shouldn't have taken the job. Doing interviews and PR is part of being the head coach.

It's worked out OK for Chavis and Bud Foster the past 3 decades or so sticking with defensive coordinator.

I'd rather have Bob calling a football game than Mike Keith tbh. I like Mike Keith personally, I just am not a fan of his delivery.

Wouldn't it be awesome if AD Fulmer had a meeting with Coach Pruitt and the players to tell them the story of the spirit stick/staff and then passed it down like a generational blessing type thing and then they all bought in? That would be biblically epic!

it would be totes adorbs if that happened.

He's not John Ward, he is not as descriptive of a play as he could be, and he doesn't get excited enough over great plays by the Vols. But, he is VFL (played football at UT), he loves the Vols and he and Tim Priest work well together. It's always better to have a Vol involved in the program. He represents the program with class.

Kesling is not a bad announcer because he followed John Ward and Ward was so good it makes Kesling look bad. Kesling isn't all that good because he simply isn't all that good.

He is not very fluent or smooth in his delivery. He makes a lot of mistakes in pronunciation and trips over words (e.g, there was a "Garrett Jarantano" during Saturday's game). There are huge "gaps" in his descriptions of plays. For example, a 35-yard touchdown run with a couple broken tackles or making guys miss goes something like "Ty Chandler gets the carry...he's got running room...to the 5...to the checkerboards!" You're sitting there listening and when he says "to the 5" you're thinking whoa...in that time he had run all the way from the 35 to the 5?

The punt block in Saturday's game went something like "ETSU to punt...blocked...touchdown!" As a listener you have no idea that it is shaping up to be a big play. You hear the crowd get louder, then Bob simply declares it was a TD or a big gain a second or two after it is over. His phrasing and things he says are just awkward sometimes (remember the "what a turn of events" line after the Hail Mary against Georgia?). He just isn't very descriptive in his calls, and good radio announcers give enough detail for you to imagine what that play might have looked like in your head.

I think Priest does OK...I'd like to hear a little more analysis about what occurred rather than pointing out the obvious, but he does bring a lot of energy and you can tell he loves the Vols.
