You all keep forgetting the NCAA is allowing a 10th coach on staff starting in January. Tee or whoever the DC is doesn't have to be a position coach.

Everybody is saying Chip Lindsey, OC from Auburn will come with Pruitt.

Is everybody saying how much he would cost. Lindsey might have just signed an extension with a 2.4 million buyout.

With Tee, this may be the best recruiting staff in the country.

With Lindsey, that offense/defense combo is straight up nasty.

Well, it does make sense from several points of view. First, it's a strong Tennessee bloodline vs Pruitt which is Bama through and through. I really feel Fulmer will take the UT connection if the candidates are even remotely close. Steele is older and if Martin is going to come as the coach in waiting, he's going to be more likely with an older coach like Steele vs a guy Pruitts age. Finally, if Fulmer is to remain AD there has to be a comfort level with his head coach. With Steele and eventually Martin, he'd certainly have that.

Don't know if it will work out, but it's looking like Steele will be the choice. Personally, I'd prefer any of the other 3 to Steele...Pruitt, Tucker or Venables....but this is UT. This is Fulmer. We were never going to get a name. We never were really going to hire a Bama or UGA guy. Much like it was always Schiano with Currie, this job has been Steeles to lose. It's the perfect fit for Fulmer in his "involved" role as UTs new AD.
