Well that's right. Majors got more time with more scholarships available to him. Those years were way before the 25/85 limit. You'd think Pruitt would get more time with fewer scholarships to hand out....
These days you have to make a decision if he's the guy or not prior to the first contract extension, we can't afford another coach where we give him a big extension thinking he's 1 year away then fire him because he wasn't. I don't even remember buyouts being an issue in Major's era.
