Pretty good read below. I really hope Kongbo has a great year.

Rucker: Jeremy Pruitt changing culture for Jonathan Kongbo, Tennessee Vols football

Rucker: Pruitt changing culture for Kongbo, Vols
WES RUCKER

Jonathan Kongbo lives in the same town he’s lived in the past two years, but it doesn’t feel like it.

The senior linebacker earlier this week became the most recent Tennessee player to suggest the transition to new head coach Jeremy Pruitt has made Knoxville feel like a new place.

“I mean, the culture is completely different,” Kongbo said before Thursday’s practice at Haslam Field. “Like I keep telling my parents, it doesn’t even feel like the same place, just as far as the culture that’s been instilled here. It’s just completely different.”

“The discipline and accountability is at a whole new level now,” he said. “I feel like even us as players now, we don’t back down or shy down about calling each other out no more.”

Junior linebacker Darrell Taylor made a similar remark last week, saying Pruitt and his assistants will take time to make sure every player — the fast learners, the slow learners, the upperclassmen, the newcomers, the starters and the walk-ons — understand the scheme. If a player struggles to pick up a concept, they’ll find a different way to teach it. All they ask for in return is effort.

Kongbo said twice that he feels “more-equipped” than ever heading into a season, but he added with his next breath that no one is — or at least should be — thinking about the results yet.

Love hearing how the culture is changing. As far as Kongbo, I think he is nothing but a bust.

Ouch! Did you ever think that maybe he wasn't in a position to succeed? Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water! I think we should give everyone a chance to redeem themselves. After the season is over then we can re-evaluate.

We've had a whole lot of chin music where people are saying the right things that we fans want to hear for years. This is more of that so I'm slightly skeptical. I hear you young Kongbo but time to quit talking about it be about it!! SHOW US!!

Why don't you be specific about what you want to see from him. Without a set goal, no one has a chance of meeting expectations.

"Effort" is what I read in this article. Last year the team quit by mid year, the effort was gone. I want to see a team flying to the ball on defense and an OL moving people off the ball for the RB's. Effort and determination go a long way with me (and most coaches). I hope the Vols have it this year.

I don’t think is talk for the fans , did you read the part about him telling his parents that it feels different , like it’s not even the same place . That’s not for the fans thats a belief that the players are starting to have and it’s a very important first step to success with any organization, I will add sometimes the hardest step is to change the culture .

It's great to see the players being coached by a coaching staff that has an idea about what they want to accomplish and how to go about accomplishing it:cool::D;)

While he has not lived up to expectations yet, I am not calling “bust” just yet. I feel that he just hasn’t been coached and/it developed since coming here from JuCo. I want to see him this year with a true coaching staff and see how he develops.

I do have the privilege like many of you to know a few ex players and coaches. I do believe the culture has legitimately changed but will it result in more success on the field this year? That is the biggest question going into the season imho and we will find out against WV. I don’t think a loss to WV destroys our season but a blowout loss may
