To me he answered perfectly. Says so what essentially, and that the way he views it he was PF first pick, and that’s all that matter to him.

He’s totally right. Who cares who the AD wanted that was run out of town. The current AD wanted him. I know Chris Low was doing his job asking him tough or let’s say the ackward questions, but dude come on.

If this guy can coach, the fans are going to absolutely adore him. That's the answer a skilled politician would give.

Besides, he wasn't the first choice of the AD who had just been fired. By most accounts, he was right at the top of Fulmer's list.

Frankly...he gave a great answer.

But just as frankly...he wasn’t ANYBODIES first pick...INCLUDING everybody here, and I can only assume most everyone else. If any of you say different...you’re a liar.

Now...just coach these boys up and win, improve, compete at the highest level...etc. Jeremy...and we won’t have to go through ANOTHER crappy search!

I agree, but the timing, and without looking into the course of the offseason it would appear that he was the very last person in the country we could possibly find. We did go through a bunch of names, but it was done by an AD that was catering to a rogue booster.

The current AD had him high up on his list at the very least and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

Some of us weren’t on the Pruitt train at the beginning, some might not still be. But no one cane deny things appear to be looking up, despite how early it is and how quickly that can change. I like what we have at this point, not cool with people trying to put the thought in the head of the current coach that by all indications has embraced UT and worked his butt off this far.

All that said, I’ve seen how things look at the beginning before. I’ve seen our enthusiasm over a new coach, and their hard work. At the end of the day we got to see the results. Here’s to hoping we are rightfully enthused this time.

Pete Carroll was the 5th choice of USC and considered by many to be a 'washed-up NFL coach.'

Not saying that Pruitt will be as successful as Carroll, but I am saying there have been plenty of "1st choices" that have failed miserably and many 4th, 5th, and 6th choices that have been huge successes.

Thing about it is, most of the people on "The List" was over rates and over paid imo. A lot of them had been in the game way too long... That usually spells out trouble in the long wrong.

Pruitt is a fresh face and people do not know what to expect... I LOVE THAT. Exciting times .

GO VOLS.

Wasn't exactly my first choice but i remember when i thought Miss. st. was going to hire him and we were looking at Doeren and whoever else, my exact words were "Great, even they are gonna get a lot better coach than us." Perfectly fine with who we got and only been more assured of it since I've heard him speak and get an idea of what our style of play on both sides of the ball would be.

I think the fact that we ran the previous “pick” out of town but welcomed Pruitt is enough of a confidence booster. He was the first pick under an AD who knew what he was doing and hopefully will make other teams envious that they didn’t hire him first.

I like his answer. To be honest, I like pretty much everything he has done thus far. He has an attitude that says "either get to work earning a championship or GTFO"

Man I hope he turns out to be a truly elite coach. Truthfully, he wasn't even on my coaching radar until Fulmer was AD. Before that he wouldn't have been in my 1st 10 choices. I'm glad UT has given him a shot, he may be exactly what we needed.

There's always one di_khead in every crowd that thinks they have to stand out and make a name for themselves. In reality they confirm the fact that the nickname fits...like a glove.

On paper, I think many were disappointed because we were initially looking at power 5 head coaches to fill the position and it seemed we had to settle and go the cooridinator route...which from afar seems more of a gamble than a proven head coach.

Nonetheless I think many Vol fans a pleasantly surprised with what they've seen from Jeremy and his approach to rebuilding this program. He may lack head coaching experience, but has defensive expertise. His success at defense has been showcased on the highest level and over multiple different teams.

He may not have been the flashiest hire or the national media's favorite, but I think Vol fans have well-founded optimism that he could end up being the best coach of whatever group of names were available last offseason.

The situation is Fulmer knows everything about football and Currie knows nothing about it.

I think after the Sciano disaster, everyone was looking for a "sure thing" but really, even with very experienced hires, one place is not like another (see Jimbo, etc). So if you were going to go the potential up and comer route there was Scott Frost that everyone wanted but was pretty much a Husker from the moment the opening came up. Besides him, I cant think of anyone who would have been a better proven talent at the coordinator level who was ready to move up. And it helps he was in SEC and yes, at bama - we are going to roll those cruits right in the door. Fulmer knew exactly who he wanted and I am so glad that we got Fulmer in there to make the decision instead of some Admin weenie who knows nothing about football.

As someone mentioned above, does it really matter? Carroll was an afterthought after several turned down USC. How many turned down South Carolina? Muschamp is doing well there. How many turned down Fla? Pruitt wasn’t the first round with Fulmer either, but doesn’t really matter. First one that Fulmer called for second interviews was Tucker and Steele, Steele even skipped the Broyle’s Award, he was a finalist, to come interview. I didn’t know Peterson was a finalist. Grand slam as a coach, would he be a culture fit? Other grand slams would have been Brohm and Gundy. Pruitt so far has hit a long fly ball, will it be a HR? Don’t know yet but I think he is a culture fit and I think his ceiling is very high.
