Pruitt’s Postgame PC

A very refreshing coach to hear after years of the butch babble. He knows what is needed to win and to play in the SEC. He knows were a long way from being there. We'll get there with him eventually because he knows what it takes and eventually the players will too.

I am sure that irrespective of the score and how they did after the rain delay, Pruitt sees a LOT that has to improve by Florida, much less a real team.

Given the talent CJP has been coaching, and given that that talent had received excellent coaching for 2 or 3 years before they became solid starters, it will be a long time before CJP doesn't see a LOT that needs to improve, even if we get exponentially better game by game, it's going to take exceptional effort on our players part (and coaching) to rise to the level CJP is accustomed to seeing on the field.

Fun Fact. At the "east end" of I-40, in WIlmington, North Carolina, there used to be a sign that gave the mileage to Barstow, California -- the far end of that interstate. It read: Barstow, Calif. 2,554.

I loved that sign.

The DOT decided to stop replacing it after it was stolen...five times. :)

p.s. I never knew this, but apparently there was a "twin" sign in Barstow. Just found these images in a google search:

No idea if the sign in Barstow is still there. :)

The one in Wilmington is still there.

I have seen both in person. I've always wanted to drive 40 from end to end.

p.p.s. The Barstow end of I-40 starts at a divergence from another interstate (probably I-5, I'd guess). But the Wilmington end of I-40 starts out being one of the town's streets. So you're driving down the road (forget its name), go through a traffic light, and it gradually just turns into interstate. With that cool Barstow sign, right there. Well, it used to be. :)

Technically the road actually starts at the southern tip of Pleasure Island at the Southport ferry down past Fort Fisher. It turns into Lake Park blv then into College road and finally into 40. Carolina and Kure beaches are my old neighborhoods up until I moved to Charleston a few weeks ago.

“We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold.”

College Road, that's it! I should've remembered that, my wife got her teaching degree at UNCW and all. Heh. Yeah, it's a long road all the way down to Fort Fisher, but the name I knew it by when I lived there was the College Road part :)

Both Carolina and Kure Beach rock. Tucked just far enough off the main path to miss the worst of the tourist rush that hits Wrightsville Beach. My wife and I loved going to Carolina and Kure instead. And we worked our way all up and down NC's coast: Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, Oak Island, Topsail and North Topsail, Emerald Isle, the big ones up around Ocracoke and Hattaras, and of course the whole Kill Devil Hills / Kitty Hawk / Corolla stretch.

Lovely state, North Carolina. I've always been glad it's our Mom (just like we're Texas' Dad). :)

My wife got her degree from UNCW as well.

I love that little corner of NC. I hope to move back there some day.

I'm hoping this storm doesn't wreck too much havoc there. The restaurant where I used to work in Kure is right on the water and they're preparing to baton down the hatches.
