Pruitt’s Contract and Buyout details

If he loses to a interim coach at Vandy i don't see how they can keep this guy. Really even winning that game shouldn't matter. His body of work is garbage and going to look far less impressive at the end of this miserable year.
Soooo who should we pull for?

Jeremy Pruitt’s firing is inevitable. Phil Fulmer (himself unqualified to fill the role as athletic director) hired an ill-prepared, unqualified elementary school teacher turned defensive coordinator to run our football program thinking he was getting one over on Alabama... Fulmer then granted Pruitt a contract extension after a mediocre 2019 season.

I appreciate Coach Fulmer for his accomplishments as our football coach and for his love and dedication to the University of Tennessee but Phil Fulmer is the first problem that has to be dealt with and should be dealt with immediately.
2019 was not mediocre.

Inexcusable losses to Georgia State and BYU. Humiliating losses to the big 3 Georgia, Florida and Alabama and not one win against a top 25 team... 2019 was a banner year for the Vols.
Well we did finish with what record and a bowl win after an 0-2 start. You are getting a little wishy washy here. What are you stating exactly? Just because we didn’t have a banner year does not mean we are mediocre. We actually finished with a winning streak and bowl win to cap off a decent season with at the time a lot of optimism for the next year. That is not a mediocre season. Stop trying to be a revisionist.

Bright enough to realize the gravity of losing to Georgia State in a season opener.

Guess that was just an "oopsie" by Pruitt in your mind
So you are stating one embarrassing loss makes the whole season mediocre even though we finished 8-4 with a bowl win. What is mediocre is your position on the 2019 season.

I’ve spent most of my life watching Tennessee teams that could compete with anyone in the country, anywhere, any time and we expected to win. So forgive me if my definition of what mediocre football is doesn’t agree with yours.

Yes great season where we get blasted by Alabama / Florida / Georgia by 30 points and win the toilet bowl

I am in favor of just canceling out the remainder of the season. (for UT) School is closed!! Just stop this weak attempt that is all about TV playoff revenue. Bowls will be a farce. I think we could just about name the playoff teams. (NCAA may expand so they can get Ohio St. and a few others in, more money for them) As for SEC, send Fla. into the jaws of Bama. Get this over with. (Damn, Vandy had a girl kicker, who was there to kick field goals, not, so she kicked off (assume second half) and turned and ran for the sideline (as she should have) but into the record books. About all this season has had to offer..... Now, on to round ball!! If our men ever play, (some teams have played 3-4 games already) across the country these teams don't seem to be effected by the lack of fans like football and announcers who sound like they had rather be somewhere else.

I’ll enjoy the a** beatings a little bit as long as we see Bailey in action the remainder of the year and Pruitt not pull him. That’s all I’m asking for the remainder of this year. The kid will step out on to the field next year full of confidence.

Did you expect to be at their level in year 2? There was still a big talent discrepancy between rosters. BTW we would have pulled within one score with Alabama if JG had not tried to play Superman. Plus how close would we have stayed with Florida if JG didn’t have his “deer in the headlights” meltdown against the reptiles. There is one common denominator between 2019 and 2020. Guess the answer. One player has cost us at minimum 5 wins the last two seasons. Take that player away and we would not have the hopelessness with the program we are experiencing now.

There are three people on Volnation who agree that 2019 was mediocre. Now 2020 is the true definition of mediocrity.

Problem isn't Pruitt, it's the idiots that think Pruitt is the best we can do. They're cheap as shat. Spent more on shat hires than they could have on just paying the dam money and trying to get return on a investment.

I would say 2020 is a disaster, an F as a season unless we upset either Florida or A&M and we all know that is not going to happen We regressed as a team, still haven't found a QB for the future, recruiting tis anking, and we are stuck with an albatross of a contract on. coach no one believes in.

Reactions: ABINGDON VOL FAN
With Pruitt as coach next year what losses will there be in terms of revenue from UT supporters and ticket holders. What will Fulmer do with number of season ticket holders drastically reduced and donations drastically reduced. This total will greatly surpass the buyout issue !!!
Probably depends on whether they can fill the stadium again. I think it it were allowed to happen this year Pruitt would be fired at the end of the year. Attendance would have been scarce down the stretch. That's just not a good sign for a guy in his 3rd year. Tennessee has a decision ahead of them. May be another hit to their wallet.

Is there a clause in there for if they just dissolve the football program?
Kidding....kinda

SC is prob going to get the best Mid tier coach available.

If Texas makes a move they will get the very best coach available.

The longer Tennessee keeps putting off the inevitable the worse this situation is going to get and the fewer “good” choices Tennessee will have..........money or not.

I understand us die hard fans are going to watch Tennessee.......and all that Jazz. However I have seen and heard of countless “vol fans” who have quit or simply hit pause for the time being.

There’s a ton of people who are no longer buying Vol crap, and if things don’t change Covid or not the “fan” revenue stream is going to continue to decrease.

Butch is paid off as of this coming February. I'd say the earliest Pruitt is fired is at the end of 2021, but even that is unlikely in my opinion as long as Fulmer is the AD.
Wait a year and save 2 .6 million. Pocket change for billionaire boosters.
It’s idiotic. The writing is on the wall, it’s not if but when he’s fired.
