I noticed after Lincoln's FG make in the second half that Simms was pumped and celebrating with Lincoln. I am glad to see he is showing maturity by staying positive and being a good teammate. It would be easy for him to pout and sulk, but I did not see that on Saturday. We need him on this team. Kudos to you Matt!

I saw that too. He was genuinely pumped and pointing to Lincoln. Haven't seen that from him in a while. I didn't know he was holding now. He would be good for a fake FG.

I'm very thankful for his play earlier this year.

He was relatively consistent and took quite a beating.

I think he's a good guy as well. Good teammate , just didn't offer the future success Bray does. Hope he sticks around - he'll be a great backup next year.

I shook his hand and personally thanked him for his toughness and leadership after the Vandy game. Told momma Simms and Chris too. It would be hard to smile and show no feelings, bc you know it hurts him.

He was basically a tackling dummy until Bray matured. Tip of the hat to him. :hi:

Kid's got some skills, too bad he bounced around so much. Given time in a system and coaching he could be really good. He is way tougher than his brother, who never got touched at Texas then flamed out .......... Matt might become one of the better NFL stories ever told. If Nick R. can do it so can Matt.

There is no doubt that Bray is the better QB and deserves to lead TN's offense but Simms paid the price for alot of this team's shortcomings when he had the starting role. He needs to stay positive, just like every 2nd teamer he's one play away from being the man.

I wish they could find a place for him in the offense...somewhere. A trick play or something.

He was holding because Chad Cunningham had some kind of hand injury.

props to Simms. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to lose the starting QB job in the middle of the season in a big-time program like this.

Hat's off to Matt.... Tough guy, great attitude, class guy. I've seen a bunch of 'em, but Matt Simms will stay on my list of favorite Vols... High-character team player. Thanks Matt!

Matt took a licking and kept on ticking. He's a warrior. He kept us in a lot of games during the meat grinder portion of our SEC season. Games where we shouldn't have had a chance.

I'm thankful he spends most of his time on the sideline. He frustrated me way too much. I hate people who say they knew it, but I knew back in the spring that Bray was a lot better than Simms. I'm still not sure why they didn't use bray first. Maybe daddy mcbigbucks had something to do with it.

I disagree. Matt's a gamer.

What's the chance of Bray being 100% for every game, every snap next season? Quarterbacks get hurt. If we have to go to our back-up QB, I would feel much better with Matt running the offense.

I'm just going to say "I highly doubt you're right" and leave it at that.

hey I'm just saying... Simms wasn't that good at Louisville, and I have not noticed much from him in the first half of the season that would indicate he was very good. I mean he was a good tackling dummy. If he didn't have his one or two wr. open he would just decide to hold the ball. I can not imagine he was showing anything different in preseason ball.

Matt Simms WON the starting job. Tyler Bray WON the starting job. When Bray won it the team around him was starting to mature. If it had been the other way around, Simms would be riding the wave today. He will play more. I'm glad he's showing some maturity on his own.
