I honestly think McNeil will start at Safety by fall, he's just got that it factor about him. Would give us the opportunity to move Waggner to his more natural position of CB too. Dont forget about Randolph either, he showed some potential last year. Im excited about Orta as well. I hear he will definitely be pushing for PT.

Waggner back at safety makes me happy. Byron Moore will be heavily in the mix, too. Granted, a lotta guys will.

I don't know exactly the lineup but that is looking much improved. Depending whether they start 4-3 or 3-4....some combination of 11 of these 14 guys...

Couch
McCullers
Sentimore
J Smith (going to come back strong this year!)
Curt
Big Herman
AJ
Santos
Waggner
Brewer
Randolph
Lanier / Coleman / Moore...(hard to call)

Not that they wont rotate a ton and give tons of different looks, but Mo Couch is going to play regardless

Thought Waggner was a better corner.

Waggner was a much better corner. Physical at the line and great anticipation. He was playing safety only because a lack of depth at the position after Janzen got the boot. He moved back to corner for half of one game (Not sure which one) and had two pass break ups and an INT IIRC. Then he got moved back to safety when Brewer got hurt. I'm hoping he lines up outside this year.

If we go 3-4 I am looking forward to the battle for the 4th LB position. Everyone has Santos on here now but Peters isn't a slouch. We also have a couple of guys who redshirted last year that might make an appearance. Either way I am excited to see what this defense can do with so many guys returning and our new coaching staff.

Waggner is one corner...no doubter for me. And we can have a couple of good safeties from that mix; no problem there. The big question for me...who is that other starting cornerback?

I think mcneil will end up starting around the Florida or Georgia game. I don't see him getting up to speed that fast. Maybe if he was a mid term but who knows with all the Texas high talent. You could very well be right. I thought about randolph after I remembered brewers leg.
