One of the most accurate deep-ball throwers in the country, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was statistically dominant as a junior for the Volunteers, finishing with 31 touchdown passes and three interceptions for an offense that averaged nearly three players per minute — the highest in college football. Josh Heupel has mentioned this offseason the confidence he has in the quarterback room in Knoxville with Joe Milton behind Hooker and believes this offense can be nearly impossible to contain when its clicking on all cylinders. Cedric Tillman is a true No. 1 on the outside and if Jalin Hyatt performs at the expectation level of his coaching staff, Tennessee has two legitimate field-stretchers that should rank among the SEC's leaders in receiving yards and total touchdowns.

We may witness the great offensive performance in the history of our program this season. Tennessee football hasn't been this fun to watch in a long long time.

We have all the tools in place to have the best season in a long, long time. I'm psyched, and I also could kick my own *ss for letting the SC Costco tickets slip through my hands.

And we have to play in a much more defensive talented conference. Imagine this offense in the Big 12, PAC 12, big 10 or acc. We’d rewrite every record in the history books. As it is, we’ll just rewrite most of them.

Surprised to see Ga on their list?
Tennessee only scored a point more per game than Georgia last year. It's not like Georgia had a bad offense and this year they are absolutely loaded. Their offense is going to more than make up for what they lost on defense and they will have a top 10 defense.

I almost saw this as serious journalism until I saw UGA in their top 10.

Bad? Matter of perspective. Their D assured they got lots and lots of possessions. Their O in any case was pretty mediocre. They were 5th in total O but only 3 ypg from 7th and 18 ypg from being in the lower half of the SEC.

On the flip side, they allowed 267 ypg... 40 yds ahead of 2nd place. They allowed their opponents only 65 plays per game.

They really did not need to be very good on O... to look REALLY good on O.

They have talent... they always do. But Kirby's style and philosophy is unlikely to let them open things up. He's old school in that way. He can "manage" games because his talent usually lets him dictate the game.
