SIAP... here is D1 Baseball's latest mock bracket: D1 Baseball Projected Field 4/23

They have us in the Chapel Hill regional as the 2 seed with UNC being the overall #15

1) North Carolina
2) Tennessee
3) Bryant
4) Elon

11 SEC teams are in the field with Florida just making the cut
6 of those 11 SEC teams are hosting regionals

If we keep the momentum we have right now, I think we're on track to host a regional ourselves.

I am concerned with playing at Arkansas which has the best record in the SEC, but looking at the team ERAs earlier I noted that we have the best ERA in the country and I do not see Arkansas in the top 50. They do have a team batting average of almost .300, good for number 23 in the country, and we are not in the top 50. Hoping pitching tops batting, even on the road. GBO.

When you bring in a top 3 pitching coach, maybe the best there is. It doesn't take long to start to be dominate on the hill as long as the recruiting is good too. If this staff stays together, the baseball team is going to be in the CWS most every year soon!!! =) I knew when Vitello hired Frank Anderson that the pitching would return UT to prominence and possibly make them better than they have ever been in a short period of time as long as he stays a minimum of five years. Frank Anderson was a monster hire for Vitello!!!

I completely disagree with being put behind Texas Tech and West Virginia to host a regional - both teams are hovering around .500 in the Big 12, which is far inferior to the SEC (this year) and they've both lost more non-conference games than the Vols. Their RPIs are 17 and 19 compared to our 6 RPI.

Whoever put that together just threw **** against the wall. Awful, but it's early - who cares.

The projections that you'll see going forward likely take into account selection committee bias. Historically, the committee doesn't select more than 6 SEC teams to host a regional in an effort to spread the wealth. After the top 6 SEC teams, teams from other conferences slide in ahead of SEC team 7 even through by merit SEC team 7 is more deserving. The conference is so strong this year that maybe that 7th SEC team gets a regional host. Maybe.

Just an interesting little thing to share. Here is our 1981 schedule. It started on March 2 which was on a Monday, and some SEC series were played twice. Once on the road and once at home.

Yeah outside of ace Isaiah Campbell, who has been dominant, the rest of the Arkansas staff has been hot and cold. Never know what you're going to get from the bullpen. Even all-american closer Matt Cronin has been susceptible to the home run lately.

Your bats against our pitching, should be a fun weekend.
