If anyone is in the Knoxville area and can't wait for their "fix" of UT football.....the band will be practicing tomorrow (Aug 18) in the stadium. It's open to the public.

They will be marching to the stadium (as on game days) and will be leaving the band room at 8:30 AM. As they march to the stadium, they will be stopping at the bottom of the hill to practice their "Salute to the Hill".

If you've never been before, its a great way to spend a Saturday morning. :dance2::dance2::dance2:

Go Vols!

That's too early.

But then again I remember having to do it and I guarantee I could still do it and march almost all (the end is different from when I was there) of pregame with no flip folders.

They've changed it even more this year. B page is completely different, I think it'll be cool.

That said, it's too hot for me outside, and after 4 years of marching, I think I may pass.

More, if this year is like previous years (especially with all the problems with the grass this year) then they'll be mainly doing some set pieces and a few movements. The grass guys don't want to strain the turf.

Do they still do the songbook and manual? Also is the music different or the drill. That's kind of sad because everything up through C page to me is pretty hallowed tradition, even if I was there for the start of the "Power T"

A page is the same, Bpage after the countermarch is different, music and drill, though they still do play the march one time through. C page and beyond is the same.

I was at the practice this morning. I have no official connection to the band, and wouldn't know what end of a trumpet to blow in, but figured out years ago that they do the march to the stadium at 9am move in day. My daughter enjoys it, so we try to attend.

Anyway, what have they done to the pregame? Where they normally face section A and play the visitors fight song, they were facing west, with "VOLS" spelled out. Will they still play the other fight song, at a different time?

They'll still do the visitor's fight song, but it will happen in the VOLS formation, then will go into the same Rocky Top formation as always.
