All of you saying we should pump in rap music to pump the players up and look like Wisconsin, how about this? Our band plays some of these same songs, but just stands still and doesnt inspire anyone to get rowdy. Look at LSU's stadium, every hand in the stadium is going up and down. Here are just a few examples of what our band should be doing, they need to get with the times and change things up a little bit in my opinion.

Opinions? For people who are in the band, why isn't the band rowdier, they seem to just sit quietly during the game and don't really get into their own music.

TPOTSL is not LSU's band. If you need the band to get you excited about a game you might not have a pulse.

I agree as do most in the crowd. The DB high school band was actually more up to date last Saturday than the Pride.

If you live near Western Carolina U's campus you owe it to yourself to go watch one of their performances. The make the UT's look like a HS band. Watched them do a Carolina Panthers half time a couple of weeks ago and they had the place rocking. Standing O from the crowd at a pro game. Their campus is less than 2 hours from Knoxville - so it's not like somebody at UT could not head over to see how it's done. If you ask the good high school musicians they will tell you there are much better marching bands to join than the Pride.

I am speaking from a position of having a sister as a past majorette and a nephew as a recent member of the Pride.

Didn't seem like it helped them on that 4th and 10 stop...

John Chavis didn't help. But you heard how loud the stadium was.

I've been to quite a few SEC stadiums. Neyland is by far the best stadium i've been to. However, our gameday atmosphere/crowd are way down the list. I wonder what the average age/BAC of our crowd is compared to other SEC teams.

Nothing like getting fired up to a rendition of a heavy metal or rap song written for oboe.

Yeah, especially since there are no oboes in POTS. Or any other marching band for that reason.

Work is being done to return the POTSMB to being one of the best bands in college football. Like a football team, it takes time to iron out kinks from down years. I trust that the staff is doing that.

What are the issues? Leadership? Funding? Something else?

Agree with OP; love the POTSMB, but needs to modernize a bit while still keeping their traditional feel

What?? No oboes? That's an outrage if you ask me. Why should the clarinets have all the fun? What next, you going to tell me there's no bassoon either?

Stems originally from a group named Cameo, song is Talkin Out the Side of Your Neck, which bands play and have shortened to just Neck
