The biggest takeaway is that he intentionally provided no information that would help Florida plan. If all three had their legs amputated today, he would’ve said the same thing.Coach said he would be more comfortable with veteran players that may not take a lot of practice reps during the week playing during the game.
He DID NOT say that any of the 3 (Tillman, Small, Sampson) were out for the year. I’m hopeful that’s the biggest takeaway.
Be honest, you just want to know. There is no tactical advantage to keep the opponent guessing. They will prepare for Tillman and if he doesn't play, that will just give them a confidence boost at game time. I'd rather do it the other way around. Say all 3 are doubtful, then boost your own squad by suiting up ready to play.
Jimmy Hyams: “Coach, any chance you’d tell us the nature of the injury to any of your players? If you do, I’ll show you some great danceCoach Hype never talks about injury status, I do not even know why the reporters ask anymore.
He’s not going to say anything. Gives Florida more to worry about.Coach said he would be more comfortable with veteran players that may not take a lot of practice reps during the week playing during the game.

Most coaches disagree with that. There is no tactical advantage to keep the opponent guessing. They will prepare for Tillman and if he doesn't play, that will just give them a confidence boost at game time. I'd rather do it the other way around. I don’t think it’ll matter much in this game one way or another, but it slices both ways.
Watch Florida with MLB Ventrell Miller, and without. It’s night and day difference on defense. He was injured late vs Kentucky and didn’t play at all vs USF. I imagine Napier will hem and haw about his availability all week. He’s also gonna say “AR is fine,” but anyone who has watched AR knows something is up with his ankle or lower extremity. All coaches do this.
The best team will win this game, period.
From what I've seen, the players Tennessee needs to be wary of at each defensive level are Brenton Cox, Ventrell Miller, and Trey Dean. All three are very good.
Gator fans would disagree with you about Dean. He’s not awful but he does a lot of dumb stuff that gets on people’s nerves like flexing after a tackle on a 12 yard gain on 3rd and 10. Does this all the time.
Cox is big time but gets himself out of position sometimes because he’s trying to take the game over, Ventrell Miller is the best player on defense. CB Jason Marshall (#3) and Gervon Dexter (#9) are likely future high draft picks. Marshall always plays like it, Dexter doesn’t.
If Ventrell Miller is out, and my guess is he will be, huge advantage for TN.
