Preservation Pub in Knoxville, anyone been to it?

It's sort of a double-wide dorm room with christmas lights and hipster-like black-and-white portraits of various musical and literary artists with quotes on them. This makes sense, because the bar is typically filled with hipsters, yuppies, and old hippies. It's a fairly fun and comfortable spot, and they'll love you whether you're any good or not for just simply holding a musical instrument or singing, because they're "cool" like that.

it's mostly regular citizens of knoxville, not hipsters or hippies. i've seen a bunch of good acts there but i've always thought the acoustics of the place were just bad. they serve birra moretti, so that's pretty cool.

I used to like going to Preservation Pub when I last lived in Knoxville. That was right after it re-opened. My opinion was probably biased by some of the good times I had there when it was still the Mercury Theater.

The people who owned it at the time got in some legal trouble a few years ago. Who owns/runs the place now?

The person who summed up Preservation Pub as the Knoxville hotspot for hipsters and hippies/bohemians was completely correct. Preservation Pub is a decent venue for shows and always seems to have a fair amount of patrons.

It is normal Knoxville people. No way you can generalize that it's a hipster bar. I bet you wouldn't say that if you substituted "hipsters" with "blacks."

Pres pub is a pretty good place to hang out and catch a show. It's a little cramped but since I've moved from Knoxville, they've opened an upstairs area. It was one of my go-to bars when I lived there. It has it's share of hipsters but there are plenty of regular people that go there also.

I would if it were a bar frequented by mostly blacks.

The average Knoxville resident is out in West Knoxville or Turkey Creek.

Look, someone else agreed I was spot-on. I frequented that place often when I lived in Knoxville. I'm not talking out of my ass, here.

It used to have a hipster vibe, but I think it's changing a little bit. It's pretty much a dive bar, but I like it.

I wouldn't call it a dive bar. It must have really changed, then.

So do the average Knoxville citizens go to a dive bar?

This should have been my first post ITT:

Yeah, I used to go there when it first opened before it got so popular.

Oh dear lord, how dare I question you! Case closed!

Lol that was a bad example you picked because I agreed with what someone else about it being average. So there's that argument.

The clientele at Preservation Pub is definitely not representative of the average Knoxville citizen.

I would call it a dive bar. But I think that term is relative.

Best dive bar in known was the orchid lounge.

I'd call it a high-quality dive bar. Crowd is more ex-hipsters than current hipsters. You might call them "normal Knoxville people" after you set aside the vast Lynyrd Skynyrd demographic. Good place.
