You're smarter than this, I think.
a) Entirely irrelevant if you read my b), and in fact even goes to the extent of further backing my claim. So, um, thank you? Yes, he shot 62% exactly once. So we're saying that a wing player shot as well as a thoroughly dominant center from 2pt range? I'll take that in a heartbeat.
b) Again, if you had read to my other post prior to your intro in this thread you would have seen all that taken care of rather easily. Go back and read it again if you still think your b) warrants reconsideration.
c) see the big picture
This gets into question of potential and age and whatnot, and while those are worthy factors to consider, if you showed me hopson and prince last year and asked me who would i take based solely on those performances continuing as they had gone: i would take prince without question. I'd hope most people here would, in fact.
But ya, I'd take prince over hopson for this season too. Granted, I don't know how far scotty has come along since last year. It better be a long way, or else that kid is one mega bust.

Tell me again how this means he can shoot, which is the point you were trying to refute? You never took care of it. You're trying to make him out to be an offensive threat. He's not a part of the offense. Hes one of those guys who is told to get his own. He does so opportunistically, bit isn't going to be asked to score. you're acting like judicious shot selection and player control drives this offensive weapon. He has the redlight fro Pearl.
I don't get the big picture. He limits us against the zone, which we will see a lot again this season. my guess is tat even man teams will dare him to shoot and help on Chism and Tyler. Tylers struggles can almost be sinhlehandedly attributed to our wings' inability to shoot. He can certainly contribute when he puts his mind to it, but He is so limited offensively that it's going to get worse. He makes 18 footers, he becomes a difficult guard. Maybe that will improve.

Yeah, 9 ppg in 23 minutes, the best outside threat on the team, the most athletic kid we have, freshman all-conference...that has "mega bust" written all over it.
Best outside threat on the team? That's not saying much. I dont have his numbers in front of me, but I bet he didnt even shoot the league average(which is 38%).
Mega-bust as relative to expectation. I mean let's be honest: Holiday, derozan, Munroe, Evans, Aminu, Samuels, Warren
Was he as good as any of these guys? No.
And please, if he doesn't improve from last year--which he certainly should--that is certainly what one could consider a mega-bust given that he was a 5 star and expected to be 1-and-done(however foolish that op. may have been).
I'll be the happiest guy out there if he eclipses JP.
He shot about 36%, 2nd best on the team behind only Tabb, who had 14 attempts.
Calling a kid who had a very good freshman year a mega-bust is simply erroneous, even if he didn't live up to some silly expectations, and even if he wasn't the most outstanding freshman in the nation. If he has that level of productivity for three more years on the Hill without improving at all, he will have been a good, solid SEC player. He should improve, and I think he will.
I like how you use the "I don't know how far Scotty's come..." comment to cover your tail for when he proves that your defense of an inept player was utter nonsense. :lolabove:
Well, yes, that would be kind of ridiculous to say "I saw Hopson last year, and that is EXACTLY how that young freshman will ALWAYS play". I don't get it, are you against the idea of maturing/improving? Who wouldn't think, and therefore leave room to account for, that there's a good chance a 5-star freshmen would get better in his sophomore season?
