Now, I will get blasted for this thread but hear me out. How bizarre is it that Tennessee (as a now 9.5 dog in many places) is being picked almost routinely in media circles around the nation? How odd that Tenn is the Moneyline favorite by well over 70% in the latest I saw? And how many times has Saban's team responded to a poor game (see Tex A&M) with a dominant performance the next week. It is ridiculous but he is going to play the disrespect card to the max tomorrow - and the media (and we as a fanbase) have aided that effort. What a laugh that they get to play the no respect card......I'm talkin' about Bama! I'm just warning folks not to be shocked by ANY outcome on saturday. I'm big-time pulling for a win, but in my opinion, we will get their best effort of the year to date. For the Vols to hang close, we will have to match that effort and get some turnovers.
Of course I suffer from BVS, but we as a group have earned our angst. Just strap up tomorrow and celebrate if we win, and be reasonable if we don't. Don't fall into this media/Saban set-up trap. And Go Vols. Now flame away as is always done to a voice of reason.

I think a team feeling disrespected isn't much of a motivator. All of that outside bulletin board junk lasts about two or three plays, then talent and preparation take over.

I hope UT wins, and feel they could. I recall what happened the last time we fans felt confident. UT lost 19-14 in 2015. Bama rolled in here and kicked UTs ass 49-10 in 2016. I think UT had already lost one, and that game broke UT. That was the year of all the Jalen Hurts drama. I think it is a testament to Heupel that he gives the fans & team confidence. Go damn Vols!

I think we have a legitimate chance of beating the turds. However let’s not forget they’ve been 1-2 in recruiting for the past 10 years. Our roster is not as good as theirs. There’s not an outcome of the game tomorrow that would surprise me. BUT the Vols win in a nail biter 38-29.

Heupel, as the offensive coordinator, offensive creator, and head coach, needs his best game. Because of his offensive mind, we can finally, go score for score with Bama (and maybe more) and it's up to him to call that game. Scoring one more point than them is all he needs.
In Heupel, I trust! Go Vols!

I have been keeping the same thoughts in mind as the OP. I want a win as bad as the rest of us. But if we loose competively close, I am
Still riding the Orange wave. We are still in good shape if we loose. Just need to win out and that is possible. Hell I happy with a 10-2 season as I thought that not possible when the year started. Enjoying the ride.
GO VOLS

You are not wrong. People bought into the way we pummeled LSU. However looking objectively those of us who watched the game and just didn't see the score and that it was at Death Valley. Brian Kelly going Les Miles Mad Hatter and going on 4th so many times and it backfiring gave us opportunities we would have had to go like 60 or 70 yards instead like 30 and 40. Yes we still would have won, but if we had won like 28-17 would we be getting the praise? Anyone who has watched this series for a substantial time knows we have our hands full. Our biggest weakness plays into Bryce Youngs strength and even if Milroe plays instead he will have decent opportunities taking shots down field as if our front 6 or 7 dont get to the qb our dbs are like Swiss cheese.

I am optimistic we will be in the game in the 4th but I am going to have to see us celebrating a win before I predict one.

The media is touting us because we are the new, hip thing.

Face it, offense brings eyeballs

Plus, the stories kind of write themselves at this point don't they? Downtrodden former power at low point in history pops up outta nowhere looking like they may put a hurting on some people yadda yadda yadda.

From what I’ve seen over the past 8 seasons Bama has lost a game or played a real tight game then played a power program the next week 6 times.

In those 6 times Bama was dominate the filling week 3 times and they lost or won by 1 score 3 other times.

They have just been pretty dominant……..playing a bad game then coming back with revenge the next week has had zero impact really at all.

Not often that Saban gets to play the "disrespect" angle with his team. Makes me think he may not be the best at it. Bama players may not be able to process it.

Go ahead, Saban, and plant that seed of doubt in the locker room.

All the professional money is on Alabama - and there is a ton of it on them. Las Vegas likes Bama to beat the spread. Our pass defense just doesn't match up with theirs - but there is a reason they play the game. I am not expecting us to win - we are already overachieving. Just looking for a good performance and everyone staying healthy.

We're hungrier because we haven't won so long. We may want this more, but it will boil down to who makes the fewest mistakes (turnovers) and injuries will win.
