I know the recruiting concept is different but the end result is the same (assuming the preferred walkon earns a scholarship). Would it be fair to say these terms are equivalent?
What is the difference if any between a walk on and a preferred walk on
Only difference (and it's a big one) is that a blue shirt counts as an initial qualifier in the next class. A preferred walk-on likely earns a scholarship later and doesn't ever count as an initial qualifier. I'm not sure how long a walk-on has to be on campus to avoid the initial qualifier status.
a walk on is someone that wasnt recruited and has to try out. basically someone that is already enrolled in school that the coaches didnt know about. a preferred walk on is recruited and offered a spot on the team and treated just like a scholarship player (with no expenses paid for)
Scholarship players used get extra benefits but unfortunately those benefits left with the former Head of Student Judicial Services.I understand the difference between the walk on vs. the preferred walk on with regard to recruiting, but is there any difference in the way they are treated? If a preferred walk on is treated just like a scholarship player is a walk on treated the same way?
