If you were an AD in the SEC and had the opportunity to hire a coach, which would you prefer, a defensive or offensive genius?

Neither . . . I'd pick a good coach. Spurrier and Meyer are offensive guys. Saban is a defensive guy. They both can work.

Stoops is an exception to this rule, but in all likelihood, an offensive minded coach would likely sway more talent.

I'm with GAVol on this one. Matters not. If we get an offensive minded coach I want a fierce, balls to the wall defensive coordinator to go with him.

Seriously, good defense turns me on. I get the vapors.

No doubt, I would love to see Tebow get smashed in the face next time he tucks the ball.

A offensive minded coach will attract all recruits. The hoopla of putting up points will make recruits want to be a part of winning whether they be offensive or defensive players !

Offensive baby!

I want 50 points a game on offense and give up between 12-15 points on defense........LOL!

Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, and Pete Carroll were all defensive backs in college. I've always thought an ex-college QB like Spurrier would make the best coach but those 3 made me rethink that.

I want to be Miami like...........freakin' military fatigues getting off an airplane..............

We are coming to your stadium to dominate you and there is nothing you will able to do to stop us!

defensive minded coach...reason 1 theres a few ways to add points to the scoreboard on defense...reason 2 obiviously you can stop the other team from scoring...

seems like a win win situation...that is if you have at least a half decent offense.

I'm with GA, bring me a winner who refuses to accept mediocrity, on and off the field.

PPl have said offensive coaches with a good DC and defensive coaches with good OC... IMO... i think it should be offensive coaches with good DC... these days the order of the game has been high scoring shootouts...

TX-USC was a shootout, but most of the other NC games of late (and prior frankly) have seen the dominant D win

I prefer a coach that uses what he is given to win, not try to mold what he has into what he wants. For example ut-uf in 06, UT up 10 points, Fulmer overrides Cut in the 3rd quarter and switches to run mode when UT has about 5 total rushing yards all game. Go with what is working, not what you want to work.

I think Cut pretty much takes credit for the very conservative playcalling after half and the ensuing loss of all momentum

defensive minded. I like the idea of only having to score 20 points to win ANY game you play in.

Doesn't matter the mind of the coach so to speak, it matter how well his coordinators understand the conference and what it takes to win the SEC. That's all I ask.

They say defense wins championships. I would rather have a coach that was or is a defensive guru. Hire a well respected OC and the flashy recruits will follow.
