Predictions?

This one will be tough.....I don't want to downplay the homecourt advantage here, cause it will be huge for you guys....the crowd will be pumped....

I'll say this, if it's close, or we're leading at the half, it's going to be a dog fight to the end. I do think we'll have to withstand a run in the 1st half...I expect the gators and gator faithfull to be riding high early....if we get thru that and can quiet the crowd down a bit, which we've done before, ugh, hm ky fans, then we'll be fine....we can't let what happened to us last Saturday happen again. And i don't think it will.

In terms of ebb and flo, I actually expect the opposite. I think this will be more like the Kentucky game for Florida, with the teams running up and down the floor. Close at the half. I then expect Florida's size and strength advantage to help them and with about 8 minutes to go Florida goes on a big run to seal it and then fouls down to the end and Florida wins comfortably.

89-82 UT wins. Lofton and CJ come up big down the stretch when it's decided by free throws.

lofton gets 27
watson gets 8 assists
wingate/patterson- 15 total rebounds
jawaan smith- 4 3's

That'd be huge for the Vols if Patterson did manage to pull down 12 or 13 boards in there amongst Noah, Horford, and Richard. Good call.

Noah's practically unstoppable down low. The Vols have trouble keeping up. Lofton raining 3's keeps them close, but not by enough.

Vols 82-79 in OT. The press will Opress :biggrin2: the Gators like never before this season. But this close game could go either way. Gator fans (students) are easily quited with a good run by the opposition. Ok, maybe they aren't quiet, they just boo the other (home) team. GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Downtown Vol's Crystal Ball, V5.0:

Florida 91
Tennessee 83

I think Bradshaw is more banged up than he's letting on, and it's definitely affecting his play. He is, as Coach Pearl says, the glue that holds this team together. Florida will be pumped, coming off a loss to Arkansas and looking for some payback for the loss at TBA. However, if Major comes out of his shell and has a 12-point, 8-rebound kind of game and plays tough D on Florida's big men, Tennessee can win this game, without question. I'm just not convinced that's going to happen.

Vols bring their shooting percentage up from last week, bring renewed emotion to their defense, and their winning percentage goes up as a result.

Alot is riding on this game. Tough too call a winner. In my heart we win in a close game. After watching us at Bama, we lose in a semi-blowout. If we play like we are capable, we hush the gators before the first half ends. So many possibilities.
Good luck, I will be rooting you on tonight.

:lolabove: I think you are confusing that with an herbal stool softener.

As for predictions. . . . (hedging. . . . hedging. . . ) I'm thinking Florida will jump out to a lead with early emotion, UT cuts it to single digits by the half, things get tight with UT pressure creating havoc late in the game, fouls come into play. . . .UT squeaks it out 76-73.

Maybe his prediction is just that win or lose, our players will show up "regular".

I think fatigue and minor injuries are taking the edge off of Tennessee. Also Florida has the most to lose in this battle and being on the home court definitely gives them the advantage. I see a game very similar to the Alabama game. I think TN will give up and settle on playing catch up at home with Ark and KY....but I will say this, If TN does win this game, they are final four contenderes and not the pretenders that many in the nation suspect.

I have no doubt but that both teams will be mentally ready to play this one. A lot at stake for both teams. UT could use a marquise road win to gain some national respect and seal up a top four seed. Florida is 6-4 in its last ten. Now, none of those losses has been by more than six and the loss at Arkansas in OT hurt the seeding, but if UF can win this game and finish strong, then Florida is probably also playing for a #3 seed and a chance to be in Jacksonville, Fla. for its first two games of the NCAAs, which is a huge advantage.

I see the comments about Tennessee being a little nicked up. Gators, too. Humphries still hasn't been himself since the shoulder injury. Brewer is inconsistent.

I expect Florida to counter Lofton by trying to keep him away from the ball, just as Alabama did. I expect Tennessee to try to slow the game down into a half court game with a zone defense, much as South Carolina has done to us this year. A run and gun game, down the stretch, probably favors Florida so look for UT to try to put the skids on that.

If that starts to happen I will turn it off. Our D in a half-court set is atrocious plus we are at a size mismatch. I see us running it all night and trying to take the post game out of the equation.

Thing is, in watching Florida this year, the size advantage has been most pronounced for Florida in the run and gun style. We've got big men, but they are quick, too. No lumbering down the floor. The way to neutralize them is to play aggressively out of a zone and try to deny the inside pass, make us rely on perimeter shooting. Sure, if Taurean Green or Brewer lights it up, it costs you. But if you let us bang it down deep in the paint, it is almost surely an advantage to Florida so best to force the outside shot and be tenacious on the boards.
