Praise J. Jennings

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but maybe part of the reason the team didn't win more was because of plays where guys weren't doing their jobs. While I am VERY happy that this play happened, as a coach, it's hard for me not to see that he didn't do his job and decided to put himself above the team.

Butch had already shown he was a fraud by this point.I don’t doubt for a minute the players went rogue on assignments bc they no longer believed in the staff. Drawing up a Hail Mary to Croom is a terrible coaching decision that would have resulted in a loss had Jennings stuck to his assignment

Everyone knows Jennings for his catch against the dawgs and it will forever go down as historic and significant. However my favorite JJ play of all time so far is when he decleated and likely knocked several teeth loose of UGA's celebrated DL player Tre Thompson (my best recall on the UGA player) with a block. As good as EB's hit on Knowsho Moreno (Knowsho had his name change from Knowshon after he took EB on) was and lives to this day, JJ's block/hit on the UGA defender is right there with it IMO.

Jennings so overrated..2 good games his whole career and this fan base thinks he is the best thing since slice bread..

It’s all in front of Brandon to do with what he will. Encourage him to put in the work and make the most of his opportunities. The film is always rolling.

No need to down play what JJ has done or could do.

I'll never forget the time Berry met Tebow over the middle and it was like two 18 wheelers hit head on.

OP, you made a statement about the current regime. You forget where many of us are from and where the current regime leader is from. We invented that damn play in backyards all across the South and it wasn't called a hail Mary. It was affectionately known by another un-PC name often called by its initials: *GL on one, ready break. The current regime would probably call a play much like that.

Good grief! I guess if it is just one player running long you call that the same thing? I guess all long passes are GL on one ... Truth is some coaches are too arrogant to admit the play was a last ditch attempt to win the game which is what a "hail mary" implies.

Does he mean to say the hail mary was thrown to one individual? That sounds like Butch Jones. My recollection was all receivers go to the same point in the end zone and the QB throws it high, simple as that.

I'm sure the formation has a primary receiver but the intent is really to throw it into the crowd. I believe Croom was the tallest receiver so I guess one would expect him to out jump the other ones in the "jumping contest".

And that play also worked because the UGA player that should have swatted it down was out of position.

And honestly we need to hold off the praise of JJ until we see

(1) What he does this year
(2) If his attitude has changed - he needs to be about the team and less about me.

Why is throwing a jump ball to the tallest guy a bad decision?

Cmon GA, Croom was not reliable by any stretch of the imagination. Jennings showed earlier that year against UF that he would do anything to win
