Fulmer expects Walter Fisher to play Saturday.

Gerald Jones and Anthony Parker will be game time decisions but both got in some work today.

If Jones can't go, look for Briscoe, Rogers and Moore to see a lot more playing time (especially Briscoe)

No word on Berry though.

groves, did GJ look comfortable when he was practicing? I guess I am wondering if you have a gut feeling or impression on the odds of him being in playing condition Saturday.

You have to play the game to win. You can't be afraid of the "what if's." We are 3-4. There is no tomorrow. There is no championship on the line. There is only pride and that means you have to put your play makers in position to make plays.

You forgot "Job" as something on the line

Dennis Rogan would move to SS and Vinson/Johnson would pick up at CB.

Rogan has gotten burned more this year than Vinson did last year. That just doesn't ease the fear of losing the BEST safety in all of college football because of a play that nets 3 yards possibly.

I think the job issue is ideally besides the point. This is about winning and losing. But obviously it does factor in for Fulmer.

Playing safety is a little different than playing corner.

Berry averages about 50 yards every time he touches the football.

I know he's great on defense but you cannot be scared and expect to win games.

There really wasn't anything to it until Jones got hurt. Berry was doing his thing in flipping the field and scoring touchdowns on defense and Gerald was do fairly well doing what he was doing on offense. So now that we can't run the G-gun for the 3-5 plays we do during the game it matters?? Sorry, but a smart coach would keep his best football player at the position that helps us win games and Berry give us that best shot at what he is doing. I would rather see Lucas Taylor playing QB than Berry at this point. We have more depth at WR than at S.

I've never argued one time he should play offense.

I'm talking about him returning punts.

Do I think he should get some snaps on offense? Yes.

Why? You don't have the luxury of letting him only play on one side of the ball.

I never heard one person whine about Mark Jones playing both ways

Mark Jones couldn't carry Berry's jock. Jones had 4 INTs the 3 years he was here on defense and didn't command the attention that Berry does. So, using the Mark Jones argument is just plain dumb in this discussion. I do agree that we should let him return punts though, it's easier to flip the field on one punt return versus playing plays on offense.

I'll just leave it at this....

If Berry plays on offense and does well, then that will be great obviously.

If though, on the otherhand, Berry plays well on offense or doesn't and gets hurt badly because of a busted play by our overrated O-line, then Fulmer will catch HELL for letting him play.

Either way, it's not up to me.

Wrong.

Mark Jones played just as many snaps a game as Berry does, yet he managed go uninjured.

Berry should be returning punts. As far as offense goes, I'd like to see him get a play or two.

Here's his stats from UTSports.com from when he played here....

Playing in snaps and games is different. Clearly Jones did not play as many snaps.
