I googled for the official start date of div 1 women basketball and it said teams can start 42 days prior to their first game. Does the exhibition count or is it the first regular game, because if the exhibition game counts then practice started last week, but if it doesn't then Monday is the first day. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, thanks.

Actually started August 4th then there is a break in there and like you state 42 days before the season begins think the official date listed whether you have a game or not is November 3rd.

I may be wrong, but I have in my head that the “summer workouts” are not considered official practice, and that the 42-days-out period is the official one when things can get fully under way.

I think one of the main differences is that “summer workouts” are held for only a few hours per week, but during the traditional official practice period leading into the season teams can gather to engage in basketball-related activities for up to 20 hours per week.

The workouts give them a little taste of what‘s to come when they can go full bore.

team chemistry building during summer vacation
smile glimpse into summer practices
and I know smile is a happy face
and you can see the new tigers
practicing together
few players and the coaches talking the video

Summer workouts 8 weeks of 8 hours per week.
There is no longer strict 4 hour limit on how much of that time can be used for on court instructions and team drills.

Missouri had, weight room conditioning
And also had team basketball drills.
You get see some Missouri basketball drills this summer in video.

so teams already had some scrimmages / this summer.

But so far, none of us seems to know which game/date constitutes the official "first game" from which the 42 days counts backwards.

🤨Please post your answers in MDY format using the Gregorian Calendar system, or you will be assessed a penalty.

edit: Gemini says "first regular season game"

first game is first game a particular team plays.
so if one teams first game is 2 days before everybody else
they can start practice 2 days before everybody else

I'm anxious to see the level of participation and readiness among the recovering knee injuries. That is going to make a huge difference for this team. Do we know if they were all fully engaged in pre season conditioning and practce?

Do we know why they stopped doing Market Square Madness?
It was so fun! And incredibly popular, among the biggest draws downtown in years, esp after Boomsday went away.

But midnight madness events in general seemed to have fallen out of style. its all so professionalized now that the beginning of practice is no big deal.

I always thought it was a great recruiting event, often coincided with the weather getting cool and football season being in full swing. Also really was nice to see the men and women together. Very One Team, One School-esque. Maybe I am getting old 😵‍💫

It was a great recruiting device. They timed key visits to coincide with football and Market Square madness. Possibly it has to do with high school recruiting not being that important anymore. Maybe they should have some kind of celebration for portal opening season instead.

I have to wonder if the student-athletes have any input as to whether or not events are held. Probably not, but I have also wondered the past couple of years whether ANYthing can truly impress a lot of these kids anymore now, anyway, since many of them have more money in the bank than their parents and can afford to participate in things THEIR peers think are cool — like shopping for their next Gucci outfit.

I’m definitely getting old. 😅

What’s your obsession with the lie about the team height? Tennessee is an above average size team per player.
Either you are trolling or you think every single team play players based on height whether they are good or lack skills.
Some teams have rosters with 6’5 players that never play. SC will not player a single post player on their roster this season more than 6’3 Watkins and 6’3 Kitts.
Serious question do you think height means post players will handle other post players cause they are taller wt🤬 😂😂😂😂😂?

Not a very tall team maybe we can handle them in Florida.

FGCU and then most likely Creighton. Creighton had a down year last year with two freshmen leading them in scoring, but they should be better than Houston who won 1 game in the Big 12.
Looks like a good tune-up before the real games begin. GBO with a little mini vacation and fun ballin.
