Potential coaching replacements

As far as people wanting the program to go in a different direction, his spread offense would certainly do so. I'm a big fan of his, but I'm not sure if he's what UT needs right now out of all the candidates out there. Saying that, I would gladly welcome him to Knoxville.

There was a great little story on Outside the Lines this morning about how it was when he first got there. With no football players, no stadium, no lockeroom, etc. It's remarkable how he's gotten that program to rise up so far. From D2-AA Independents to the Wac(not sure) to head of the Big East in 11 years.

the common consensus on this board,(alot of discussion on this guy of late), is that he would not come to UT, even for the money. but, stranger things happen when that much bread is at stake. i, too, would love to have him. many call the spread option a fad, but it is an exciting to watch fad. if i got us just one NC it would be worth it.

South Fl is only paying him 1 million per year salary.
He is a winner. He can get us back to the SEC CG. His energy on the sidelines is similar to Saben, Meyer and Miles. We are missing that fire on the sidelines. He will leave home for big bucks. Go for it Mighty Mike.

he also has the same sideline demeanor of John L Smith, and he sucks.

he doesn't want to leave the Univ. of South Florida.

With the current BCS structure you have a better chance of going undefeated and playing for an NC in a weak conference then a strong conference, so he has no interest in coaching in the SEC. Plenty of in state talent in South Florida as well.

he is not coming to UT. DONE. he wants to grow USF into a powerhouse, and he can do it in florida.

must we have this argument after each TN loss? Leavitt loves it in Tampa and has already mentioned he wants to retire from USF someday... it's not happening...

Just think of what Leavitt could do w/ the talent we have at UT.

Leavitt has just as good talent right now. All his kids are one ACT point away from going to UF, FSU or Miami.

They are all home grown forida boys.

dont be so naive.

Why don't you find the average recruiting ranking for South Florida the last 4-5 years, compare it to Tennessee's or FSU's or UF's, then explain how his talent is similar? They're better coached, but they are not close in talent.

Saban- LSU, "I want to retire from LSU"

Saban- Miami Dolphins, "I want to retire with the Dolphins"

I heard that Leavitt's recruited a bunch of qualifier type kids at USF that couldn't get into any SEC school.

Thats what alot of smaller schools do. Marshall is well known for doing that too. Leavitt is a heck of a coach though. He took over that program when it was D2 and was the first head coach they ever had and now are a top 20 D1 school the guy can obviously coach.

don't even classify what Leavitt says with what Saban has done. Saban has notoriously lied and knows nothing of loyalty or integrity and Leavitt doesn't have a history of doing that

A Tampa school in the WAC? It was CUSA.
