I have to wonder why the lady Vol post players are not more fluid under the basket like other teams. When they get the ball they turn around and shoot like they're throwing a rock in the lake. Once again no outside threat, driving layups and free throws for SC. I said earlier and I hope im wrong with all these teams winning at the Vol home court, that VU may win their first ever at home against the Vols.

Also we need a defensive stopper in the middle nothing against C.Green and i like her a lot she is just under size.

Because neither Green nor Kushkituah have any post moves. Well, Kasi has some but she's super out of shape. In comparison, Jennings from SC showed off a ton of different post moves today, as did the post from Vandy against MSST.

Would love to see them run Green more at the high post. She has a pretty consistent FT line jumper and is much better facing up than with her back to the basket. Also makes for an easier catch for her at the high post. Would be a nice release against a zone and draw her defender up off the block a bit.

One good take away from the game was Rae. She had a hell of a game. She was the only one who played without fear.

This season? Run your offense through Evina and Rennia and stop throwing it to Cheridene and expect her to turn into Mercedes. If Kasi is in the game in her limited minutes, you can pound the ball into her if she's in good position...not when a Teaira or a Turner is draped all over her.

I know people here are already proclaiming the two incoming 6'5 posts to be an upgrade to what Tennessee has now, but it's likely they won't. Keys looks like she needs serious strength training and Sanders looks to be another Faith Dupree type player. Maybe by their junior year (or not, if Holly is in charge of their player development), but I expect them to be foul machines for most of next year.

They need to take away Kasi's bag of cookies and commit her to improving her fitness for next year. How good Tennessee's inside game will be next year will live or die by her development.

I'm sorry, why is KK out of shape? Have to do with knee?
She looks thick to begin with and probably not well conditioned from how she is huffing and puffing down the court after 5 min. The knee injury was probably a setback for her conditioning training.

KK's injury shouldn't have been that much of a setback. She's been in a S&C program for 1-1/2 years and doesn't look much more in-shape than when she arrived on campus. Second year her minutes have been significantly limited due to poor conditioning.

Why pound the ball into Kasi she has no hands ? Also i disagree with you on Key i had a chance to see her play Friday. They lost but not because of her and her sister. But anyway Key will be ready to go and is the real deal. She will backup Kasi and play a lot.

How was her competition? Was she going up against the same caliber post players she'd see on top 20 teams or was she just taller and more athletic than players destined to ride the bench at mid majors or DII schools?

Kasi may not have the best hands, but she's good at establishing position and finishing on the block...not unlike Mercedes who also did pretty well considering she had two frying pans for hands.

You know HS some teams are small some are big she went up against a team with a lot of sharpshooters. They packed the paint against her Note: last three games 32pts,26pts,16pts, Also remember NC is a big state with a lot of good teams. Kasi will need to start all over poor conditioning no hands and poor footwork.

My skepticism about her is that it's all too common in WCBB to have post players that were dominant players in HS not because they were skilled but because they were taller. Then they come to college and struggle against players just as tall and athletic as they are, if not more. Expecting a lower rated freshman post to come in and be an immediate difference maker would be unusual. There are exceptions, and they usually benefit from good coaching or a well developed system...and as you know, Tennessee has Holly.

New coach Holly has had her chance,

I’ve mentioned it before and am still wondering if Kasi’s ever been checked out for the possibility of having a mild case of exercise-induced asthma. Her inability to ever be able to gain good lung conditioning has me worried that there’s some underlying, undiagnosed health issue going onto prevent it. It has been months now since pre-season practices began, and now nearing the end of the season she’s still visibly struggling to breathe? Something feels off about that to me.

Really needs to change her diet. It’s taboo to talk about in women’s sports these days, but if she would trim up a bit she’d be so much better off. Cheridene did a nice job of this the last couple of years.

Jess Shepherd at ND is another prime example. Proudly talks about losing a significant amount of weight last off season after changing her diet and training routine. Had really improved her game.

Our posts have been awful for a long long long time. Mercedes was 6'6" best high school prospect in the nation and can't even make a WNBA roster. It's not just Holly that stinks, it's a majority of the staff too.

I notice this "under the basket" problem also. To me they can't jump, as you say, just kinda push the ball at the basket. I think this shows a lack of strength in legs and shoulders (maybe total upper body). Some of our bigs look a little fleshy too. I guess this means not in good basketball shape.
