1. Defense played piss poor overall in the 1st half. Excellent in the 2nd.

2. Erik Ainge is an amazing quarterback. He made over 5 throws where I said to myself "That's an NFL throw"

3. Arian Foster, albeit against a CUSA team, showed why he is the #1 tailback. Good night.

4. Lennon Creer is the next great UT RB. He took the ball from Crompton/Ainge at full speed and never looked back. He's the first all-world guy I can picture since Stephens.

5. Rico McCoy, for all his great hits, had some really bad angles and missed tackles.

6. I'm worried about the secondary in pass coverage. Too many 5 yard cushions on catches.

7. Pass protection, again, was excellent. Run blocking, for 2 weeks in a row, was solid. Great news there.

8. Again, some routes on 3rd down were run way too short of the 1st down marker, and you could tell Ainge was ticked about it.

9. Hefney is a good punt returner. You can't expect a TD ... ever, but he gets 10 yards.

10. Dan Williams was an EXCELLENT addition to the starting lineup. He drew doubles, and when he didn't, he penetrated.

11. I know it was a CUSA team, but a good, experienced one, and Tennessee turned it up in all facets in the 2nd half.

12. I don't think we can hang, at this moment, with Florida.

13. I believe we held some scheme stuff hidden for Florida.

What have they proven so far?

I've been preaching all week about how Williams had a great spring.

McCoy did have some bad angles. I believe he thinks he's faster than he really is. But he did bring the wood on several plays. I'll take a missed tackle if he body slams Tebow like he did Young

Nice post, except I think we can hang with Uf if our O plays the way it has the past 2 weeks.

1. Yep...

2. Yeah..he was really threading the needle at times and he threw a nice fade too...

3. Foster is looking strong right now. He has developed nice stiff arm...had a juke that was crazy tonight....and still has that sweet acceleration he showed at Cal. He may not have a high top speed...but the boy can run.

4. I hope you're right. He does look like a strong back.

5. I'll have to watch the film again to see what you're talking about...I remember one bad angle. He certainly had some big hits that helped the whole team step up, though.

6. We've got problems in our secondary....

7. This O-line may just be for real...

8. I thought that Ainge was going to go nuts on that Rogers catch just short of the first down.

9. Hefney had some nice moves to get us 10-15 yards tnoight.

10. I was VERY happy with Williams performance tonight...he had some nice plays..and the line was much improved.

11. check

12. check.

13. interesting.....

What'd you think about having the young guys back there returning kickoffs? Kinda scared about true frosh but they did ok.

It's more what we HAVEN'T proven. Southern Miss, a running team, had wide open receivers almost all the time. We did a good job, overall, on their run game, but they are 17 stratospheres slower than Florida, and we STILL had to chase them.

We have yet to show we are a complete football team who can STOP a versatile offense.

Look at what the spread option has done this season ALREADY.

They did okay. I think for Florida a Coker + Creer/Moore duo would be nice. They returned pretty well. I think they were thinking "get up field and secure the ball" more than "make a play." Small steps, but we need big steps between now and Saturday.

We went downfield more tonight, but our routes and scheme were pretty much vanilla, which is fine. We executed very well, for the most part.

I think we have some new wrinkles for Florida, mainly some quicker snaps.

He made one or two bad angle reads in open space. He had some great positives though.

1: Good in pass coverage
2: Great plays on the end to take on a blocker and force the running back to the inside.
3: Did pretty well against the option.

Very, very true. So what happens when Jerod Mayo puts Tebow out of the game?

Agreed. The one play where Fletcher juked him and Rico just slid on all fours is what stood out. It was awful. He did make up for it. I just hope he shores that up this week.

Oh, and Robert freaking Ayers showed up in the pass game and run game. Possibly best DE tonight.

I was just listening to him being interviewed on the locker room show and they asked him what he was trying to do when they slid him inside to rush the passer from D-tackle in passing situations. He replied "Man, I don't know. I just ask the other tackle what to do then I go ballin'."
