After a loss like that I'm really not sure what one is SUPPOSED to say, but I also don't know what he could have said to give me LESS hope. I feel like I just got a "fly on the wall" perspective of what kind of "inspiration" the boys hear at halftime. I'm very freaked out and wish I had never watched it.......kind of like watching an episode of "intervention".

What did he say to make you feel this way?

Did you watch it? If he were a general, the president would have to take a serious look at fitness for duty. If he were a CEO, the board would be having an "Emergency Meeting" on Monday. If he were an evengelist, hide the Kool-Aid.

I'm willing to bet the house there's not a single person on that team, coach or player that's "NOT" happy the season is finally over.

I think he said a few things, the thing that got me the most was just in passing, something like "we as a staff need to trust each other." I don't want to read anything into it, but I will say he dropped his highschool buddy like a hot rock. If he thinks a coach isin't getting it done or isin't on the same page he'll let 'em go.

Per the stickied Quotes thread:

On the end of the Tennessee win streak against Kentucky
"Certainly you don't want it on your watch but it happened and there's not much we can do about it now except try to start another one."

"Try"??

He just simply stated what we all should have realized all along..."We just aren't a good football team."

Not much else he could say...

The first "sticky" is "Post Game Quotes" from springbokvol. He covers a good chunk of it. It is really a "must watch". I don't really know how to put my finger on it, but I do know this: It wasn't good for the program AT ALL. Like I said, I'm not sure what one says or how they say it, but that was a picture of what NOT to do. JMO. No answers. Just scarry. Frankly, he sounds like he is going to resign (and after watching, that is probably not a bad idea).

Guys, I can speak from experience, as I am the CEO of a large hospital. When you talk to the troops, or discuss to others what went wrong, you have a fire in you, a F*** yeah we'll get it done, type of tone. Dooley has a different personality, not sure that it will be successful, but I'm not a football coach.

I can say that I also played D1 ball, at safety, in the ACC and I just don't see the type of fire from this guy that I would expect. I played for MacH Brown and he had fire, granted that was 20 years ago, but still, he fired us up, and always had us ready for war.

Don't know what to think about Dooley, but I wish him and our Vols the best.

I know. It is true, but dang. Maybe some "this is completely on me and this staff. It is obvious that we have had some monumental and unusual challenges, but it is also obvious that we have been out coached, our players, week in and week out are not as prepared as our opponents. We play uninspired and OBVIOUSLY do not make proper adjustments and that is all squarely on my shoulders. Things ARE going to change around here. The "how" is not important, the "will" is a promise". Hell, I don't know, but for a couple of million a year I expect ANYTHING but what I've seen. I have defended Dooley. I like Dooley, but danged if he seems to even know what to do. He was dealt a bad hand that got worse. I'm not sure that many could do any better, but that presser was flat-out poor. I do realize that there is not much to say, but when you are out coached by Kentucky and, frankly, Vandy to end your season the focus amy need to be wider in scope and perspective than a figurative shoulder shrug. Like I said guys, I can't put my finger on it, but the presser was almost as troubling as the game.

I agree completely. The "we suck" is nothing but harmful unless followed by something other than milk toast and stats to efficate the "we suck". I'm not sure that at that very moment the stats shouldn't have been left in his pocket
