Why the hell does every article on UT's practice written by govols.com got Crmpton quoted in it? I always really enjoy some of the better articles until I see his thoughts on things. Last year when we were losing, we also just heard his thoughts on things. Is he just a publicity and attention hound or is this done for a reason by Kiffin like to send a message Crompton is the leader or something? Or maybe to boost Crompton's confidence. Maybe to make the other QBs jealous and to compete harder??? I don't know.

Crompton, if you read this by some chance, I'm sorry for being hard on you and who knows, you could turn things around ala Ainge when Cut arrived. But for now, please try to stay quite until you prove yourself on the field. If you do become the starter and lead us to wins, then we will all want to hear what you say. But as of now, let your playing do all the talking please.

Another thing, if you do talk to the press, it would be really nice to hear you take at least a little blame for how last season turned out and the fumble in the AU game in particular. Tim Tebow may be glorified drama queen, but he does shoulder the blame when his team loses.

I have to agree with the poster. But then again he is like his coach. I just hope they both walk the talk this fall.

I have no problem with him speaking up. If there is one thing this this offense needs, it is a confidence boost after thier let-down last year. I am all for our players to feel confident and comfortable. Though they DO need to do the majority of thier speaking ON the field, at this point though, feeling comfortable with thier surroundings is important. Leave Crompton and everyone else alone, as the staff is trying to instill confidence into our players.

If he is able to turn it around, being a vocal leader is part of that turn around. This offense needs a vocal leader, and who better to do it than the senior QB who is fighting to redeem his name?

Yeah but for Crompton to try and provide that confidence boost via interviews is like the smelly kid in class talking about the importance of hygiene...

I think they probably quote him all the time is because he will probably be the starting QB at the beginning of the season

I agree. I've heard all the talk from crompdaddy to last a lifetime, put a muzzle on it and beat somebody.

Once again in yesterday's practice Crompton decides to play Mr. PR and even says he has to watch some film. For the love of god, shut up and just try to play ball Crompton. Until you prove yourself, no one is interested in what you have to say.

Keep it up vol nation. Do you realise that the cromptinator might just read these post? You have no idea what your getting into. He holds the key to our success. 5 stars baby. Count them 12345. You people make me sick with all your negitive stuff. He will be used for stud perposes after his season has ended. His seed mixed with Rod wilkes?

I agree with the original poster. Crompton needs to keep his mouth shut until he proves that he can handle his business on the field. A fumble and safety in yesterday's scrimmage sounds like the same ole' same ole' from this guy. Yeah, our pass protection is a work in progress right now, but his performance this spring has left much to be desired.

Does anyone notice how we don't get a lot of quotes from the defensive players, who have been quietly dominating the offense (especially the OL) lately?

well KNS are the ones doing the interviews. It's natural for them to hone innon the QB for info and insight. JC is going to be the starting qb. I would like nohing more than to see him leading the pride of the southland marhing band in the swamp after the uf game. Go Vols and go crompton.

He is the projected starting QB. What do you suggest he do, stare at reporters with a blank face when he is asked questions?

Well where the hell are Berry's quotes???? I hardly ever see him quoted. He is the leader of our team NOT Crompton. Until Crompton does anything, yes, he should ignore them and direct the questions toward other players who have already proven themselves already. This is about earning things and not just getting them. As of right now, we don't have a starting QB and Crompton hasn't proven jack squat so why in the world would anyone want to here what he says? His opinions right now are no more important than any bench warmer who never even seen the field.

Crompton is requested for interviews -- he doesn't do them unless he is.

Unlike the last QB, who was not available daily, and not accountable in my estimation, Crompton is a stand-up guy with the media....even if there are some UT "Fans'' who keep knocking him down.

His head coach said he's pleased with what he has done this spring, and yet there are Tennessee "Fans'' who aren't. Go Figure.

A land of agendas and people afraid of being wrong....

Said it before, I'll say it again, I don't know Jon Crompton as well as I've known other QBs -- his interviews are very team-oriented and he doesn't brag -- but many have turned on the very person who has endured four years of BS coaching changes and will put his backbone on the line every Saturday.

Sometimes, this is a tough bunch to figure out.

Berry, as an injured player, is not made available for interviews -- UT has a policy on that.

Sometimes, they'll allow an injured player to talk. But in the past, that has been rare.

I can assure you Drew and Dave work very hard to get every possible interview and put football practices into the proper perspective.

Possibly a lot of pent up anger over how last season played out and the perception that he does not view himself responsible or accountable for the failures. Similar to another person you spend so much time defending here.

You have probably spent more time with him than 99% of VN posters; in your opinion, what are his thoughts on last season (i.e., I stunk it up, It is a team sport and we lost together, etc.) and why does he think this season will be any different for him?

All of this is just carry over from the last bunch. Too much sunshine pumping and working like heck quotes will do that to you. Most are tired of random rah, rah quotes from players that have done exactly squat on the football field. Just beat somebody, i already said it. Nothing short of that is going to change anyone's mind about JC.

I think Crompton's attitude is the same as the other players, which was set forth by the coaching staff....

Last year is over, no sense looking back or dwelling on it, and a positive attitude is in order if the team is going to move forward.

If he spent all his time moping and griping what kind of leadership would that be?

Sometimes, I suspect may of the people that post here never played the game -- or they were the ones who never learned how to overcome adversity and move on in football....and so now they are frustrated ex high school jocks living through the current players.

Just a thought.

:)

Most of the posters on here refrain from taking personal shots at the players but yet you want to fire at us? You get paid to follow UT football, most of us pay for the privilege.
