Positive thought for a slow day

well yeah, it is, but considering we're starting our program over basically, you have to qualify our program expectations, which won't change, with what we should realistically expect in year one.

i've said it a few times, but in year one 7+ wins would be great, go to a bowl, build some more momentum, get extra practice, get a whole recruiting season under your belt and in year two and three and four you start to see what this is developing in to.

now, it may happen a little faster than that with the quality of coaching we seem to be getting and if we get a few players that can make an immediate impact, who knows........

but it is something to be excited about........the prospects of the future with this coaching staff certainly look bright.

If Kiffin gets the offense to play physical football, victories could come faster and more frequently than base level expectations...

witness Bama.

Raining there where you are?...

:shades:

Being in Texas after a nice hiatus in the Smokies is downer enough.

Clawson let me down so badly last year that I won't believe it 'til I see it but I'll admit so far so good.

I would like to hear more evidence of buy in by the current players but really don't expect that to manifest until spring practice.

I will say I like having a new head coach and staff in place as opposed to another year of the same ol' same ol'.

They probably didn't see 6-6 coming in the first season. That's why I am trying to keep year one expectations low.

I pray, after a muffed play,I do not see the offending player laughing on the sideline. I fully expect Lane or O to be up his a** ASAP.

Yeah, I mean they're all saying and seemingly doing the right things. We'll see how that translates on the field. I'll tell you this, for next season I'm not so much interested in seeing how many wins we will have under CLK as I am in seeing just how much of a different team this will be. I just get the feeling that the games will "feel" different and the players will look different, act different, perform different. It will definitely seem strange to go to a UT game and not see Fulmer pacing the sidelines.

I really do hope the games take on a more "blood thirsty" vibe where instead of us going out and playing someone like Georgia in the HOPES that we will win, I want us to go out with that killer instinct and just impose our will on them.

”Impose Our Will”. I love it.

Should be the replacement for, "Carry the Fight" in 2009.

Pretty succinctly states what many of us have wanted for some time now.

Everything else - scoring, wins, defense, recruiting, attitude, etc. - naturally follows from that mindset, I think

I have a feeling that if a player does this under this regime, you better hope that you've got the DVR running.

That way, a long time later, when your buddy asks,"hey, whatever happened to that guy who was laughing on the sideline that one time", you can que it up and show him the last place he was ever seen.

If you're not recording it, your only other option to see him will be at Kroger, aisle 12, dairy section. Just grab any carton that's easiest to reach. Turn it over.

Bingo. Mystery solved.

We're either going to have an amazing amount of success with this staff, or resemble a NASA project that went haywire, similar to the Hubble debacle. (Spending tons of money for nothing to work)

Improvement=more than 5 wins.

I know, that's setting goals pretty low for our standards.

Improvement = being able to play against the likes of N. Illinois and Wyoming and knowing you will win. That's the shape Fulmer left this program in. :whistling:

well that's the thing, it's just buzz. and if you remember, there was some pretty positive stuff going on last off season.

life was good last Spring.

how quickly that changed.

not trying to be a downer here, but just keeping things in perspective......i'm not expecting huge dividends in year one. I expect improvement. how that's defined........not sure yet.:) but like most everyone else, the 1st impressions of what is going on is very good. it's hard to imagine this not being successful going forward.

As usual you make good points, but I see a difference this year. We are setting forth with a new regime that has new ideas. Last year there was that feeling the offense would only change as much as CPF allowed it to.

I would rather fail trying to drastically improve than play it safe and just semi-succeed.
