First the negatives.

For many years now the first game of the season has been a perfect indicator of how the season will play out.
Last year was wierd in that we made it to Atlanta but UCLA this year was the team we have had.

In the distant past if we started slow we could see the team improve thru the year and end up strong.
The Phil Fulmer team lately never make giant improvements during the year. To me this is the tell tale sign that things simply aren't right.

The positive.

At least we have a QB that actually looks like he has played football before. I don't think Stephens will be threatening any of Mannings records but we could win a few games with him on the field. Jon Crompton has to be the biggest dissapointment in the last 50 years of Vols football.

That may be true....but I would put the performance of this Oline as a close second.

I'd hardly call 13-30 a positive. Stephens is a lot better than Crompton but he is not the answer either.

Absolutely. This OL is pathetic. I wonder if Mark May finally realizes he is an idiot for saying this was the best OL in college football.

stephens is doing a good enough job to win right now. he was 11-20 until late in the 4th. the o line has been very dissapointing this whole season. our secondary has been pretty good except for when we play zone. morley has been terrible in pass coverage and the last two passing touchdowns against us are due to his blown coverages.

The problems on this team start with the O-line. Our coach is a former O-lineman one would expect that to be the area where we would be rock solid. hmmmm i wonder what that says.

That's what happens when you label read stats and don't know exactly why they were coined a "good" line in 2007.

Interesing read on the Ga article about reading the UTs OL stance/lean/formation...knowing pretty much when it was run and to what hole (excuse me, I meant what area of the line), the running back was heading towards.

So, I expect they could read our pass plays as well....making a difficult task nearly impossible for this O.
