It’ll be a long, long, long time before they ever elevate another Cardinal like Francis. I have a feeling the Catholic Church is gonna clap back hard with this next Pontiff.Looks like they’ll be electing a new Pope soon. It’ll be interesting to see what direction they go. Worldwide countries are moving right
I think the criteria for Francis had a big geographic component - they wanted to reach out to the Americas. They may go for a European conservative. It’ll be a long, long, long time before they ever elevate another Cardinal like Francis. They've always feared this would be the way the new American Pope would greet the masses upon being introduced on his balconyIs there inherent bias within the catholic church regarding an american pope? aside from him being the first, why is it surprising an american pope was elected?
I think it just stems from the United States being such an outsized influence on the world (especially after the Cold War), and by extension, the Catholic Church, that they shied away from having an American Pope.Is there inherent bias within the catholic church regarding an american pope? aside from him being the first, why is it surprising an american pope was elected?
