Im not sure what yall think but looking at his highlight film in high school it looks way better than Bryce Browns this guy is gonna be good. I dont think we have anything to worry about at the runningback position.

there was a reason bryce brown was the number 1 overall prospect... we are fine at running back but losing bryce was a blow

Epiphany of the hour....Tauren Poole is in fact, a good running back! You heard it here first!

I wouldn't say his video is better but I'd put money on the fact, he played against better players. Kansas HS football couldn't hold Georgia HS football's jock strap.

I believe Poole is a very capable running back. Just don't know who will block for him

How many times are we going to have these T Poole youtube video threads?

The guy is good, but he's not Bryce Brown. The Vols will be okay, but they'd be better with Brown. Quit trying to hide from that fact guys!

A very reasonable post!

I don't know how you can make that evaluation. BB had a good start but a weak finish in a limited role lastt year. TP played well when he played which was considerably less than BB and that may not have been based on his ability but may have been because coachX promised BB that he would play immediately. Time will only tell who is the better back. This is no sour grapes because BB left but at the end of the year TP was more impressive and BB seemed hesitant to hit the hole.

I was stoked when BB signed with us.

Watching him on the field I kept asking myself why everyone thought he would be so great.

He just never showed me why he got all the hype coming out of high school.

As another poster pointed out...I thinks there's a huge difference in the quality of players in KS and in Ga and maybe BB wouldn't have been so good running against the defence in Ga high school.

BB sure doesn't seem to really love the SEC after getting hit a few times last season.

GO BIG ORANGE !!!

How many times are BB lovers going to claim things for him that he hasn't proven on the field?

In his limited opportunities, Poole did more of the things an SEC back must do to be successful than Brown did. He made great decisive cuts, showed great vision, and ran through tackles. In many opportunities, Brown consistently ran in straight lines, missed cut back opportunities, showed little vision, and ran up blockers' backs.

If you wanted to say that BB has more natural talent than TP then I couldn't argue with you from a measurables stand point. But neither guy has proven themselves to be a great back though CLK did everything in his power to let BB do so. CLK tried his hardest to get BB to take the starting job away from Hardesty and he just couldn't do it... not even close.

I hope BB stays. I hope he becomes everything his potential will allow. But he did nothing as a Fr to affirm that #1 player talk.

probably as many times as a guy with barely double digit carries in a season will be heralded as an SEC type back

With this Oline does this even matter right now? What we need is a back that can take a beating...repeatedly.

Don't know if it was what you were insenuating... but I haven't claimed that. I specifically said that neither guy had proven themselves. Brown got plenty of opportunities... Poole got few.... and even just the 3 runs he had vs Va Tech make me ask "Why?"

I like BB and would love to see him become a UT great. But all I saw last year was a big, fast kid who wasn't elusive and was easy to tackle.

Brown also seems to be susceptible to concussions which is a concern.

I don't want to be too disparaging, but one might question his durability based on the bowl absence. Brown may be a great talent, but I agree to some extent that the hype surrounding his recruitment set him up for failure.

I hope he is healthy, and that his career blossoms...and that he decides to stick around. I don't see it happening.

In terms of production we will have to wait and see. BB was a true freshman last year and what he accomplished was impressive. I've never seen TP catch a pass and BB has impressed me with his ability to do that. TP has the right attitude and I hope he becomes a UT legend. Personally I want both of them playing on Saturdays in orange

Almost 500 yards rushing an average of 5 YPC, behind a guy that ran for almost 1400, and a line that consisted of two walk-ons weighing 270 lbs, that's very weak.

Brown was, at best, the 4th or 5th best Freshman RB in the SEC last year. Richardson and Ealey were much better than him and McCalebb, Norman and Miles all had better seasons as well. That's not terribly impressive considering we're only talking about Freshmen in the SEC. Neither Brown nor Poole has proven anything yet. It's not a "huge" loss just because some recruiting rankings had Brown highly rated. Lord knows those things are never wrong.

I will tell you this....Bryce Brown could have been really good. But Trent Richardson was 5 times better than Bryce Brown was last year. And he was supossed to be the #2 RB out of that class. Well I think they got it wrong...Trent should have been #1.

He even ran behind Mark Ingram who won the Heisman. And we cant say oh well he had a better line..Because Hardesty did just fine running behind that line!

Brown will be missed just like any contributor will be missed who leaves the team but RB come a dime a dozen...
The best RB in the world right now was not even offered a RB position coming out of High School except from 1 school and look how great he is now...I am talking about Chris Johnson if you have not figured it out yet!

BB's best hit of the season was his tackle after the interception.
I wanted him playing LB after that!

Rivals has a pretty good record on their #1 overall player list. Brown will be elite. Too much there from a physical standpoint.

Poole played in northeast GA. Almost all of the top teams in GA are between Atlanta and the Florida border.

:eek:k:
I agree, but I also believe Bryce could start for any highschool program in Georgia. Just saying.....

IIRC Stephens County is a power in their class and went deep into the playoffs in his JR and SR years with him leading the team on O.
