Polls hate us...

how did we fall 9 spots? Cal is a good team maybe a Great team. I see Cal being in the top ten maybe top 5 by the end of the year

When you loose your first game your gonna fall because every other team is still undefeated.

Yeah..and although we really did beat them worse last year than they beat us this year - they still fell a lot (granted, we were ranked lower than them when we beat them, unlike this year). Regardless, national polls mean squat to us now, really. We need to go fight as hard as we can for the SEC-East title...then hope we can find a way to wing the championship. That is what this team's goal should be any year, not national championships - national championships are out of team's hands because of crazy computer polls and the like. The SEC championship is a hard, real, solid goal that can be attained without blaming someone else when you don't get there.

I agree,We need not worry about the poll's.We need to worry about tennessee.After saturday night thats alot to worry about.:ermm:

if you guys beat southern miss and florida you will be back in the top-15

Another seemingly recent phenonmenon that is "crowding" the polls is the number of Big East and non-BCS schools that are being ranked. 6 teams when you add it all up. Nearly 1/4 of the Top 25. That's despite the fact that 4 or 5 of those teams would be lucky to finish with a .500 record if they were in a power conference.

every year...jeez.......until we are in the top 10, for more than a week or two, i simply don't care where we are ranked. At this point, it simply matters that we win the next game on the schedule. that's the only thing we have any sort of control over, and if we do enough of it, the rankings will take care of themselves.

until then, don't care.

the polls mean nothing right now for us. Being ranked 24th means nothing, all that matters is how we play this weekend.

Florida is better than cal droski.It's not likely that we take both games.I would be worried about cal's defense if i were you.We played very vanilla and did about what we wanted,except for a few bonehead play calls.

It's the first game of the season and our d is young. maybe florida is the better team today (hard to tell when they have only played western kentucky), but at the end of the season we will see. Tebow will have some growing pains eventually. If it's against you, you have a chance.

I say they are better,because even with a young defense they will tackle.Percy harvin is as fast as anyone on cal's team including jackson.Thats why i'am not very optimistic of our chances down there.That and the fact they use a form of the spread option that is very difficult to defend.I know you would love for us to win out or at least make it to the seccg,so cal can look good for winning the game.But i think by the end of the year it will probably not factor in for you guys,because we will have four or five losses.

They shouldn't issue a poll until mid October, but if they didn't what would the sports talk guys argue about? Our biggest concern should be SoMiss and the fact that we let a Pac-10 team rack up 240+ rushing yards. UT should own the line of scrimmage against teams like SoMiss and Cal especially late in the 2nd half, when our athleticism, size, and depth should take over.

Yeah you would think so wouldn't you.That defensive line isn't going to own anyone this year.If chavis doesn't change the scheme we will get owned all year.Man did we whiff on some d-line guys.That is the worse d-line we have ever feilded under phil i think.

It's a good thing that Cal wasn't rated lower, like 13 or 14, we would have fallen out like Mich.

On the other hand, I find it funny that we are the only 0-1 team in the top 25.

i'm still excited about what could happen with the team this year. that is if everything comes together

Im really not to much worried about the polls right now cause its the first game of the year and plus were the only team in the top 25 with a big L *sigh*. With that said my sights are on the SEC. To Heck with the Nat. Polls right now we need to Worry about the SEC and our Defense. Hey maybe ESPN put in a good word for us to keep us in the top 25..? YEAH RIGHT. GO VOLS!!

being the only 0-1 team doesn't mean anything... we fell 9 spots?????? because we got beat by someone predicted to beat us and ranked ahead of us? 0-1 or not thats BS
