As I used to tell my kids:

Cry me a river
Build a bridge
Steal a car and
GET OVER IT!

The most famous player on any roster is the backup QB and at UT, per tons of Tennessee fans, it's now the backup to the backup. Tennessee's best chance to make the playoffs was Aguilar, but that ship has sailed. Over the past few months I'm afraid so many have put so much stock in a guy that is extremely unproven and there is no indication that I can find that the starting role is his to lose. Am I hopeful he'll be the guy and lead us to the promised land? Sure, why not. I pull for anyone that is leading the Vols. Should people pump the breaks a bit? Yes, absolutely. Unfortunately, like many within VolNation do, they have branded this guy the clear-cut starter and best ever.
I want the person the coaches think gives us the best chance to make the playoffs to be playing. If that is George, so be it. If thats Fazion, I’m all good with that to. Many freshmen started for Div. 1 schools last, with minimal results. But if that is your best chance, let’s go with it. GO VOLS!!!!

Probably because a lot of us learned with Nico that having a high ceiling doesn't mean you'll reach that high ceiling.

What Joey would mean is stability and a known commodity while G-Mac and Faizon are unknown commodities.

Literally, a QB in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
Like we didn’t learn that from Jarrett Guarantano?

Something tells me Staub will have something to say about who the starting QB is. I just think a guy like him in a QB friendly system is something that will definitely help him. It’s between he and GMac and I’d be happy with either. I think Faizon ends up redshirting.

If he doesn’t start, there will be some mattresses being burned. If he does start though on his first incompletion I will be asking why we aren’t starting Faizon.

I see most on here are rationale about this - I expect CJH to start the QB that gives the best chance for the Vols to win from those he has on the team.

And for me, as long as we win no one should cry about who is starting. But if we start to lose, there is not a person on this board that will not say another option would have been better. It is just what happens here.

I marked yes. It's not like we have billionaire child rapists on the loose. This is what matters in life. GMAC for QB at Tennessee or bust.

Please tell me why you do not think he has the skills to be the starting QB at UT? All indications are that he has the skillset (4/5 start rating all year his senior season.) Given his slight build, it is pretty obvious why he did not play much. Is it only because you have been corrupted by the NIL/transfer portal?

First off, this poll is childishly set up and not worth voting as worded. Secondly, I hate backhanded statements. You obviously don't like G-Mac and nothing anyone says will change that.

Harrison Bailey was a highly rated 4/5* QB.
Jake Merklinger was a highly rated 4* QB.

HS ratings do not mean you've got the skills to be an SEC QB. If they did QB recruiting would be much, much easier.

We've got essentially no data on G-Mac or Faizon and going by "they've got a lot of stars in their recruiting profile" is just not enough as it wasn't with Bailey or Merk.

My poll.
If George starts and the Vols go 8-4 will you say he wasn’t good enough.
If Faizon starts and they go 8-4 will it be because he’s just a freshman?

Why of course.... we'll all just sit down and have ourselves a "cry".

What was the purpose of such an idiotic and antagonistic "poll"?

Who cares who starts as long as they play well and win games.

My poll:
If we go 8-4, we were an 8-4 team or a 9-3 team that had some bad luck or injuries that cost us or a 7-5 team that benefited from some luck or injuries to our opponents. Adjust up or down as needed.

Bottom line: it's February. If someone says they know how the team is going to do now, they're nuts.

The "judge" in Joey's case will probably be snagged in a mens'bathroom with a young boy helping him tie his shoes.
