Edsall- 50-54 moved U Conn into D-1
Todd Graham- 25-10 Undefeated this year
Brian Kelly- 147-54-2 has turned a few programs around and has won everywhere he has been
Leach- 73-37 Would fill Neyland with exciting offense

Gary Patterson- 70-26 at TCU
Chris Petersen- 30-3 Beat Oklahoma in famous bowl game

I don't care what you say Gruden is candidate 1. If he declines then yes Lane Kiffin or mike Leach. Kiffin though I think will go to washington its out on the Left coast where he has been tied to with USC and Oakland and has some recruiting pipelines. also Pac-10 is weaker than the SEC and if he can resurrect them its a school that has and can win a National Championship at just like Tennessee. As for Leach he may not be as great a recruiter but has ties to Texas which we need to be able to get in there. thats one of our problems is getting into talent rich states. elite coaches are locking down state borders. Leach has an intriguing style which counts for a lot, its not our stale vanilla run off tackle and punt.

Kiffin coached in the NFL. I would say he is more prepared for the SEC than a lot of the guy smentioned. As for Leach, I want to see hwo he finishes the year, but filling the stadium with an exciting offense isn't the same as winning.

Mike Leach's offense led the SEC that year. Lane Kiffin has not shown he can win. Look at Wannstedt, he had much more success than Kiffin and he has mostly struggled at Pitt. I understand Clemson offered Kiffin the job if he promised to bring his dad Monte as DC.

I think UT needs to go after a demonstrated winner who is young and hungry and can move a program to a higher level. These 9 college coaches have shown those attributes and UT would be an upward move for them. Sure, Cowher, Gruden, Stoops, Butch Davis, and Paul Johnson would be great- but I am not sure it is reasonable for us to expect to get them. These coaches, on the other hand, are very gettable and a few of these guys are going to be in prominent coaching positions very soon and will be very successful.
