Here's my earthshaking analysis.

#1 Passing game routes packages seemed to be > 50% multiple streak routes deep. Slants and crosses into 2nd level for hi % dump off were scarce. Were they opening to middle area for scrambles? Just too many slow developing routes allowing those freaks too much time to destroy our OL.

#2 Manhandled OL. Has anyone mentioned this? 🙄

#3 Running game abandoned too much. Ran 44X, but 10 were sacks plus others QB inconsequential scrambles. Hindsight is 20/20. But, when it's all said and done, we could have done more damage on the ground then our anemic passing game. Felt like we were playing scared there.

#4 QB overwhelmed with an elite front seven, too many time consuming deep routes, and an elite coverage unit that was just too much for him to process. It wasn't Furman anymore.

Nevertheless, if their safety number 4 is two inches slower diving for that hail Mary after Faizon Brandon's incredible escape and strong decision making and perfect throw, we actually win this. 🙉🤷.

we dialed them up, but the ball wasn’t thrown. faizon not comfortable throwing into tight coverage yet.
He’s wasnt comfortable throwing into no coverage. Forget tight windows. That ball isn’t coming out.
If we can’t scheme plays and get matchups with open WRs, it’s on the playcallling. If we don’t throw to open WRs, it’s no different than a good run playcall that’s well blocked and rb runs into OL instead of the hole.

We might be SC and Arky. Other than that? Hardly. Allowing 10ish sacks per game in the SEC equals zero wins.

We won’t be playing another defensive line like that the rest of the season unless by the grace of God we make the playoff and see them again. We will run all over Auburn this weekend and many of you will finally realize that the Texas defense is a special group.

Avg pocket for FB to throw was 3.79 seconds.
Avg is about 2.5.
The one who gets the ball out in 2.5 or the one who gets the ball out in 3.8…which qb takes more sacks?

As others have pointed out, no one on the offensive side of the ball is immune from criticism . It’s all encompassing. I noticed it last week And the previous couple, yes Faizon is a young QB, he is being praised by a lot national pundits for going through his progressions and then taking what’s being given, but he’s also not seeing the underneath routes and he is very risk averse. It’s good that he values the ball, but his unwillingness to go down field allows a team like Texas and a coordinator like Muschamp to scheme that up. The o line play needs to be fixed quickly and somehow, someway, the offensive play calling needs to be putting us in a better place to succeed.

That was a missed TD

That was a missed TD
It was . It was a play that possibly wins the game. I know he’s not going to hit all the open guys, but we will need to see some progress over the next few weeks. This weekend is going to be a mess weather wise, have to be careful there, but he has to be ready for October 17. We have to win that game. And it is truly winnable.

i only saw a couple plays where he missed wide open guys. seems like standard issues with a true freshman QB to me but i’m no expert.

i’ve never seen an 18 year old QB carve up one of the best defenses in the country the way some of our fans think faizon should have yesterday. nevermind the OL issues. heck even OSU failed to move the ball in the 2nd half against Texas. but our 18 yo was supposed to move the chains with a crap OL? no chance

50% O-line

35% coaches (how about more rollouts to cut the field in half and simplify the reads, move the pocket, More screen action and hot passes, etc...)

15% QB (Yes he should have hit some of the open receivers but too many posters expected too much from true FR playing against a highly rated Def esp.with Will.Muschamp as the DC)

Their two DTs are absolute monsters.

I think Brandon made the mistakes we thought a freshman would make. He didn't turn it over which is pretty impressive because of how well they played. He left quite a bit on the field but even with that performance and better online production they would have won imo.

The center was bested every play that had him taking on #88(?). He whipped him bad. The RG was out of position a lot and the RT was trash in pass rush consistently. They contained the run with their front 4. That was huge. I seriously doubt anyone else can do that.

Let's also not forget about the loss Ethan Davis. I think he's the best pass catcher. I actually think he's the hardest piece to replace on offense.

Way too much common sense in this post for the chicken littles on this board. But, well said.

I blame the refs. They throw a flag on hail mary and we go to overtime. Arch throws another pick, and we win.

It was a total offensive failure. QB was bad, OL was bad, WRs couldn’t get separation, TEs were nonexistent. Play calling was befuddling.
The play calling, atrocious, however, i don't think anything can prepare you for 13/17 3rd down plays, you were 3rd and 7 our more.... this is not entirely on the OL.

CJH is way too many years in not to have a deep OL. A great OL carries a young QB and makes average running backs look elite and elite running backs heisman winners. You build the line first.

I agree with everything except the part about the WRs. There were open receivers on several plays but the QB did not find them for a combination of youth and poor OL play.

We called the inside bible screen and it worked. However, we never went back to that well to slow the pass rush down.

Also, CJH has abandoned outside bubble screens as the refs seemed to always call OPI on those plays.

My most concerning take away is that in each of our losses (Ark 2024, SCAR 2022, OSU 2024, etc) it has seemed like the defense knew our plays prior to the snap. The Arkansas DC said as much after that loss and people watching the film of this loss a seeing evidence of the same.

Our play calling is way too predictable as well. Too much emphasis is on a strict 50/50 run/pass balance. Unless we are inside the 10 then we usually just try to run it in from there. We can maintain our balance without literally running and passing the ball every other play.

Loss was on Head coach and offensive coordinator who had no clue as to what to do and put freshman QB at risk of injury.

I agree with all of this except for the WR’s getting separation. There were replays of guys running open. It’s also why we saw DPI’s on Texas DB’s. This was the OL getting destroyed, a young QB who wasn’t seeing the field, and a play caller who never got the young QB into a rhythm early.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Texas receiver was so wide open in the first half to catch that wounded duck that stayed in the air forever Arch put up for a big gain. I can't lay the loss on one group as you win as a team and lose as a team. However the defense as a whole played well enough to win.
