I've read a lot that many people are blaming Brandon for "taking sacks". I actually thought he did a good job of getting rid of the ball on multiple occasions, or it could have been 15 or 20 sacks. I honestly can't remember in the 43 years I've been going to games seeing an offensive line play so atrociously awful.

They were whipped and manhandled the entire game. 10 sacks and how many hurries? 20 or 30 or more? For those that want to put this on Brandon, if an offensive lineman does his job a QB never has to "take a sack" in the first place. Brandon was literally running for his life.

They have to get this fixed literally this week or conference play will make a very difficult season. Texas was not doing anything fancy. The vast majority of the time it was four down lineman just literally whipping the person in front of them. That is sad and inexcusable.

I'm good with coach playing some backups just to see if they'll actually put forth the effort to not wiff and actually attempt to block. I think a lot of these guys just need a gut check and a wake up call and it better happen this week.

We might be SC and Arky. Other than that? Hardly. Allowing 10ish sacks per game in the SEC equals zero wins.

I said no.

It was coaching / play calling, quarterback inexperience and offensive line. All had a hand in it and really, not any one part worse than the other.

there is a lot that has to be fixed there and it needs to happen quickly.

Pretty much. The coaching/play calling part continues to show up, year after year. It’s almost baked into the equation at this point. Just do what you do, and hope it eventually works is a crappy plan.

Agreed it was a perfect storm. Muschamp schemed a perfect game against an inexperienced o line and QB. Our coaches needed to adjust and it didn’t appear to me they did.

It was both there were a couple times he will/should get the ball out to a small open time frame window. Right now it is the wrong line for a Fresman QB and the wrong QB for a leaky O-Line. It was on both I think it got in to FBs head to just escape and throw on the run, bad position to put a true freshman in this caused him to not see a few scantly opened receivers and take sacks with his eyes not looking downfield. Any HC in todays climate should go out and get a portal QB with experience to put in when a freshman with great potential gets the deer in the headlights look. Lane Kiffen went out and got Chambliss as a back up that steered a lower division team to the Championship game, the Colorado guy was just a waste of resorces IMO.

It was a total offensive failure. QB was bad, OL was bad, WRs couldn’t get separation, TEs were nonexistent. Play calling was befuddling.

For receivers to get separation and for a QB to have time for a play to develop in seconds, it ALL starts up front. That is the fundamental foundation to the whole thing working. If the line doesn't block, which we all saw they didn't, then the whole thing can't operate successfully.

The staff could have and should have called a lot more short distance crossing routes and wr screens inside to keep their linebackers a lot busier that's about all they could do and they didn't. That is squarely on the staff for sure. But the deep ball and taking chances takes time for the play to develop and the online MUST do their job. It takes time for a WR to get down field, it takes time for a QB to see this and set up and release the ball. If the QB is on their ass or running for their life, this can't develop and you're throwing off balance on the run. This has the defense licking their chops.

If the coaches would have tried a lot more passes into the flat and in no man's land behind the defensive line and in front of the linebackers then maybe there would have been more pass protection on defense "keeping them honest". So yes, that is on the staff squarely.

But if the offensive line would have halfway done their job, Tennessee could have won this game by a couple of scores.

The O line didn't play their best game but I think indecisive QB play made them look much worse. A QB that throws in rhythm and makes decisive reads and throws could have won that game for us.

Other than 3 chunk plays, Texas had the same issues. Ten fewer rushing yards than Tenn, and without the 3 chunks, fewer passing yards. Gave up six sacks. Texas lost the turnover game and the special teams game.

Defensively we played more than good enough to win. 10 sacks and zero game plan offensively will do it every time. I don’t know what our OC even does at this point but whatever it i,s is a giant waste of time. He isn’t going to outcoach anyone on the other side.

Brandon had his share of mistakes. He played like a freshman. The o line had a lot of issues as well. None of them are freshman. They are one of the most experienced groups on the team. You can't have a true freshman qb running for his life the entire game. Rushing yards tells the story. If you can't run the ball, you have o line issues. Average o line play would have won the game. Running out the clock with 2 timeouts at the half is puzzling to me. And the final series at the end was just ridiculous. Penalties, sacks, clock management was just atrocious! Spike the ball and get a play called! Defense was awesome! They held the #1 team in the nation to 20 points. You should win that game with any offense at all. We had none.

Did not answer the ? The Online was bad thes and the coaches did nothing with play calling to help. Just my 2 cents not a pro QB was scared to throw in tight window
Have noticed this all season. the 18 year old has a lot of growing up to do.

I agree with play calling was bad. When they are putting that much pressure on the QB, why not try a screen pass or run wide instead of up the middle of the line where your O-line got their rear ends handed to them all day. I mean giving up 10 sacks that is just embarrassing.

I think more WR screens like the one they did with Matthews and more slants should have been drawn up for sure....

Loss of Davis for season really hurt our offense too

It’s as much on BF as it is the line. He has the option to throw the ball away. He missed multiple opportunities to get the ball to receivers that were open, one was an automatic TD. He stares down one receiver and if it’s not there he automatically panics and thinks his legs are the answer. Obviously it’s not.

It was both, really. No excuse at all for the OL to be that bad.

Brandon is young, and has “some” excuse. But the signs were there the first 3 games. Either he is extremely gunshy, or the coaches have coached him out of taking any chances whatsoever.
Exactly. The entire offense struggled…. No push from OL on runs, RBs couldn’t get going, WRs couldn’t get free, FB wouldn’t take risks and couldn’t hit the tighter windows, OL didn’t give FB much time.

Preseason expectations was O line would be a strength. Was there any red flags during fall camp?

What's insane to me is that in a season where about 80% of adult UT fans were thinking our record would be 7-5 to 9-3...with 8wins being most likely...theres the usual brigade of drunken morons on here crapping on our team for losing by 3pts to the #1 team in the nation. As if texas wasn't gonna be 1 of the losses on every sane adults schedule for this year??

Bunch of negative azzholes and people who cant hold their liquor. Theres a reason the vast majority of posters on this site avoid the FF...especially after a loss. Sadly the result of that is an echo chamber for the ignorant and emotional fools who behave like 12yo girls. Its disgusting to me. Yes, that was the worst Oline performance in my 49years of life. Elarbee has shown that other than Perry he cannot develop talent from HS to SEC starter level. We may need a new Oline coach this off-season. That doesnt make our team, our coaches, or our players garbage though. I hate the NegaVols almost as much as I hate Flarda and the Pups. GBO

**also the Vegas o/u has been at 7.5wins forever. I am sure they counted preseason top3 Texas as one of the 4/5 losses. Some here act amazed we didn't win. Muppets.
