UTAD offered several options for season ticket holders today. They involved refunds, applying to tickets next season, donations etc.
They also had an option stated as this: 2020 Football Season Ticket Opportunity to request the chance to be allocated tickets for the 2020 season

Looks like its the full package of all 5 games if you get chosen.
Also they said you would have an opportunity to refuse if you don't like where they place you in the stadium (So it looks like 100% you won't be in your previously assigned seat).
Assuming they will give you the other options again if you don't rank high enough in the donation pecking order.

None of the above. When the renewal came in March I immediately said no to receiving tickets. I saw this coming back then.

Guessing there will be some way they will make it difficult to transfer the seats to someone else to avoid folks selling their tickets (temptation would be higher given the amount you could probably make this season). There will likely be something like Mobile only and no transferring. If you want to get tickets to someone, you will have to let them use your account login or otherwise maybe a screenshot of the ticket barcode (or some other craziness).

Preds make it tough to sell/transfer tickets to the "premium" games. And these whole season for Vols would be seen as premium with the limited capacity, so wouldn't surprise me if Vols do something similar.

Hopefully it all gets to play out and they start to increase the amount allowed in per game. I don't predict I will be able to go this season (not a ticket member), but hope all you folks get in that choose the seat option.

As this poll runs it's course, perhaps some of you can help do the math here.
The variables are:
How many seats are taken up by season ticket holders?
How many seats are taken up by opposing fans? (Assuming there will be zero ticket distribution to rival schools)

That should help in determining the probability of getting the "package" this season.
Example.
For round numbers, say Neyland sits 100,000
say season ticket holders are 80,000

at 25% capacity, you have 25,000 seats available.

If the poll is valid - say 75% of the 80,000 are trying to get in, that is 60,000 folks trying to get 25,000 seats, which leaves a surplus of 35,000 who won't get in.

Another variable is the profile of those opting out. If their donor status just happens to be above yours, you get bumped up a notch.

Just trying to figure out if Santa is coming this year. If you have better numbers than my hypothetical, please share.

one more "factoid"

Looks like Noon EDT Monday 8-24 is the deadline for opting out. Looks like you are "opted in" automatically if you fail to log into the web site and make a selection. What does this mean (to me)? Assuming there are many who aren't monitoring this closely and will be the recipients of a season ticket allocation. That is an interesting scenario, because you get a chance to accept/reject your seat assignment. Once again, no response indicates acceptance of the tickets. Gosh, can you imagine the heat UT would take if just the opposite? Those who don't read email regularly - and were denied because they failed to login in time?

Anyway, here's the verbiage straight from UT:

"Donors or season-ticket holders who do not take part in this initial process will be automatically included in the seat allocation process to follow. You will have an option to decline the allocated seats in the designated time window. If no action is taken, payment will be processed. "

read somewhere that UT had something along the lines of 62000 season ticket holders. The poll is trending that about 20 percent are opting out for the season if this is accurate. (Please participate). That looks like ballpark that 50k would still want in. I am also wondering about the student population. If I was a student this season and didn't get in, I'd be ticked. As a season ticket holder, and long time Vol supporter, I'd be happy if I got bumped and the students got in. That seems right to me.

There's a few other subtractions which individually aren't large but will add up.

I would expect players' families still get a pair of seats. Coaches will also get tickets. The university will get tickets for president, chancellor and others. Typically the band will take up seats but I wonder if they will be in the stands during the game. I haven't heard anything about recruiting in all of this but there will probably still be some official visits.

Adding all of those together will probably be 1-2k I'm guessing.

I would think the skybox area would accommodate the president, chancellor and others. The way the skyboxes are - at least the times I've been there - the people know each other, kind of like the "I'm safe around my family" - perhaps a false sense of security. (there is a plate of glass between each box). Would think the masks would be required in the eating/food area - and food taken back to the box.

Looks like the poll is trending towards a few more opting out than when the poll was initiated. Also, as @DeerPark12 and the Ainge show said, the initial internal polling before the offer was put out, is leaning towards if you are a season ticket holder and wish to go - you will likely get the opportunity. That remains to be seen.

I'm curious as to how they handle the student demand. When my kids were in school - (going back to the year we beat Florida), the demand for student tickets was such that not all students got in for the big games, and that was with no social distancing. But.... the last few years, the student section has been pitiful. Good for me, because I had a real jerk in front of me - standing all the time, and just trotted down to section G and found a row of empty seats and enjoyed the game. I still think they need to keep the students happy. After all, this isn't NFL, it is "their" school. Maybe it'll be a win-win for all of the above.

Keep participating in this poll please, if you are a season ticket holder and haven't cast your data.

The Athletic Dept is taking a bath this year. I can’t fathom they would expand the student section to accommodate more students at the cost of donations

I think butts in seats is definitely a revenue generator, but TV revenue will still be significant. Maybe moreso, because of social distancing, people are craving sports. Plus, everytime Freak sells a nike shoe with the power T on it, UT gets some crumbs. I think this hurts Knoxville hotels/restaurants worse than UT..UT will survive this.

Almost 62,000 season ticket seats set aside, not that many season ticket holders. I think only about 12,000 season ticket donors who have multiple seats.

Interesting number. I have the feeling (and someone with insider information, please correct me) that around the May-June timeframe, the ticket office pushes the unsold season tickets. That sales period was smack dab in the middle of Covid and would guess that this activity was shelved. Say they pick up 10,000 new season ticket holders normally during this period. So that might drop the number to 50k seats active for this season.

This is what "Ma" said on VQ. Mobile wallets only. Not sure selling tickets will be reasonable.

Season tickets only.

They need every dime they can. If you are a 100% truest of true V4L you will decline tickets and donate 100% to S.A.V.E.

I thought the poll was only sent to donor season ticket holders and not those grandfathered, don't have to make annual donation to purchase season tickets. I think there are about 11,000-12,000 donors and I'm about 9,000.

I guess if you don’t donate then there’s no decision to be made about what to do with the donation. Also, what does it mean to be grandfathered?

The truest truest of true VFLs would give away their entire life savings to the university and live as an ascetic for the remainder of their days. With only a simple windup radio to listen on Saturdays to Bob Kesling

Many years ago they let season ticket holders buy good tickets annually without an annual donation. They were grandfathered in. When that person and spouse dies, the grandfathered privilege ends and annual donation is required to purchase those season tickets.

My parents were in on that plan. Can't say how many grandfathered people are left, but the fact they don't make donations will put then low in the pecking order for tickets this season. Hopefully all that want tickets will be able to get in.
