Install field turf or keep our natural grass?

I like the natural grass. Football is to be played on natural grass as to golf on grass as to tennis on clay or grass....

Your opinion?

I love the look of turf and supposedly it is easier on the body. I hear there can be temperature issues with it. If there is a reasonable way to keep it cool, I vote turf.

The new field turf at other stadiums looks great.......especially in late November compared to grass. My son and I walked on the UT field last Thanksgiving and it looked horrid.

I like the smell of natural grass. Grass is supposed to look bad come November.

I prefer the natural playing surface over something "looking good"

I prefer a real Christmas tree to a fake one also....

Didn't realize you could smell the grass at Neyland from the stands during games.

Turf has to be installed. Way too many times you see someone tripping because of the bad field conditions. Looks and plays better bottom line.

Yes. I sit on row 44 which is not all that low. But, we can smell it. Especially on damp days or nights. Especially when there is high humidity, whether it's hot or cold......

Depends on what side of the "investigating" you want to be on.....

Injuries are about the same. Planting a foot is planting a foot.

I prefer the natural. It's natural. It just feels more natural....

From a performance standpoint,

It makes our players faster when they play on turf and it slows down teams that come in and play on it in our house.

Just the nature of the beast. I like it.

Luv seeing the grass and dirt stains on the uniforms as the game wears on.

Yep. Part of the pageantry of the sport. Kinda like squeaky sneakers on a basketball court from sweat and rubber....lol....

Or divots on a golf course

Grass is great when you have the right climate.
UTs turf used to look amazing even late into the season. Not sure what happened.

If you haven't been on the new field turf then you shouldn't have a vote. It is NOTHING like astro turf.
I have been on it at Cambellsville university in the middle of July. It isn't hot like astro turf. It provides an excellent and consistent playing surface.

Field was better when we had former groundskeeper. He left a few years ago maybe a Hamilton/ Hart casualty

U.T. has been down the road of turf before and it has been judged to be harder on players with concussions and other ailments. Stay with grass and have the Agriculture College to get involved with the right grasses and upkeep of the field.
