Oh no! I have not been following baseball at all this season and had no idea they were struggling. 😕 But yeah, when Tony V resigned there was an absolute avalanche of support for Elander. I remember at the time thinking that the force and strength of the idea Elander should become the head coach was such that I worried that if White had done a national search and hired someone else, I could see the entire team bolting. The way the players (and those close to the program) loved Elander, Danny White was in a real bind. And I also remember thinking, "Maybe all these players have it right."

Holly Warlick is the template for such decisions. Her ship did go down with a slow leak whereas the baseball team seems to have been torpedoed.

The NIL stuff has only hyper magnified this. We have players hitting the portal for more money when they averaged 4 points a game last season! We aren't rooting for "kids" anymore, we are rooting for the TN uniforms and hoping that we have enough money in our coffers to buy the best players. It's unsustainable and people aren't going to have the appetite for spending their money on tickets and merchandise unless the school shows it's able/willing to compete with the best.

Maybe this next lady vol season will be more enjoyable. A team full of underdogs and a HC underdog. Just show us that you care and want to win as badly as we want you to win.

Your first sentence in this post in spot on, IMO. I saw on the baseball forum were they beat Miss State on the road good win. I saw where there was some that said they don't like the names on back of shirt should play for name on front. Someone replied teams are getting so many new players that the fans that actually have to work long hours for a living, hardly know anyone with out the name on the back. With instant transfer some teams have players leaving in packs looking for $$$ all over the Nation last year 40% portaled probably over 50% this year. Its the new way we got to love it or get out.

Wrong.

Terms:
- Baseline refers to the records and win% in the 5 years *before* the AD got to the school.
- Hires refers to the records and win% of coaches the AD hired during their time at the school.

The data speaks for itself. Danny is a hiring monster everywhere. Nobody hits on every hire. Elander/Kim are still being judged. But the man has the best hiring track record in the business and it's really not very close.
