Will Ahmad Paige emerge as an impact player at WR in 2009?

6'3 & 4.4 forty per Rivals out of high school. I believe Tom Lemming at MaxPreps/CBS ranked him as high as #5 WR in his class.

I'm not being critical of him, mind you, it just seems like with a new offense and new coaches, the time is now or never on whether or not he enjoys a successful athletic career in college.

I hope he's successful outside of football; I'm just curious if he can get through the football window before it closes.

I voted YES with confidence low only because there wasn't an "uncertain" option. His "potential" is worth noting and he'll get a fresh start like everyone else so only a few that we already KNOW aren't going to produce should be left completely out of the equation.

He'll be our #1 by the end of the year IMO.

Wasn't he the first player Kiffin watched tape on, and then asked why he hadn't seen the field before?

interesting question, sir. did you watch the celebration video on UTSports.com?

I watched some of it, but never watched it in its entirety.

I hope he can at least get on the field 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the season, which could set him up to be an impact player down the stretch and into a bowl game.

He needs the momentum to take him into the spring.

If he's not getting out there by the end of this season, I would worry about his confidence going into spring ball of 2010.

I'm like you, I just heard some clips from it. But I've heard a few people say that about Kiffins comments, so I'm just assuming. Either way though, he looks like a great talent, and I think he'll fit in better in this system.

Speaking of which, many people want to pull out the Ainge transformation in comparison with Crompton, why not do the same with Paige and Meachem. Meach took off in Cut's new offense, which isn't that far off from the one Kiffin is bringing in. Paige could become a very strong factor.

minimal. If he were very talented he would have played last year.

I must disagree. Ahmad has the talent and blazing speed, it's just he needed to adapt to the physical style. He needed to gain weight and muscle. He was the most productive receiver in the Army All-American game season before last.

Kiffin was a WR's coach at USC and he actually gave his receivers the grade of F after their beatdown of Arky in Fayetteville.

I know he's going to be demanding of them, but I just hope Paige can pick up the new offense fast enough to get on the field.

If Paige watches tape, makes it to workouts on time and studies his playbook, I think he'll get in the games. If he doesn't put his foot on the gas, though, he isn't going to get to shine.

This guy could be one of our best, or he might not see the field. Who knows, we really have nothing to go by. Other than he was highly regarded out of HS. If he was being held back by CPF, because of youth, that will not be the case this year. He has the same chance that everybody else has.

Competion is very healthy for a football team.

There wasn't really an option for "I don't have a clue" so I picked yes confidence low. I don't know and no one else does really how he is going to respond. He is still real thin and could stand to put on more weight. I think it's been an effort thing with Ahmad which is good because I think this staff, if nothing else will get effort out of the guys on the team and the ones who don't give it will be gone. That's my hope, anyway.

I am very hopeful that he will shine under the coaching he will receive now. Also think the new strength and conditioning program will help get him ready for the physicality of the passing game in the SEC. Oh what a difference a new staff can make.

I think he will make an impact, especially with Kiffin and crew in charge. Kiffin is looking to put our best talent on the field, and I think he will realize Paige has tremendous talent and he will get a chance to finally contribute.

Lots of guys were better under Cutt . Crompton , Ainge , Meachem , Foster , Lucus Taylor , The whole offensive line ...I thing all the QB's , receviers , freshmen , seniors , everyone ...should get a fair look ...and that is what Kiff has said he is gonna give them . I am exccited about the freshmen and guys that have wasted away on the bench under Phil . Coker was a head case ...but when he was available we rarely used him . David Martin is now making a name for himself at GB but was just a dirty rumor at UT . There have been so many guys that weren't used at all ...or used effectively .

In the Hargrave B-team game last year, Paige was our leading receiver, catching 5 for 93yds, for what its worth. I wish I had seen that game.

Kiffin wanted Paige bad at USC so he def knows who he is. I think he will have a big impact next year...Fulmer always played upperclassmen (Briscoe and Taylor). Everyone dogs the QB play which Im not gonna argue because it was bad, but our recievers were even worse last year. They never could get open and didnt have the speed to beat anybody deep consistently...

Agreed ....but why were they being asked to beat people deep when they could not physically do so ???? This same bunch of receivers under Cutt gained 3675 yards running slants , crosses , and outs . Horrible scheme for the athletes available .

So the guys that did start at WR last year were only there because they didn't have talent? Fulmer was fighting to keep a job. If Paige was one of the best recievers last year, he would have seen the field. With Nuke, Green, and Teague coming, Paige's window of opportunity is VERY small.
