Anyone here get bit by that poker bug in the last few years?

I'm guilty of it... it was all over ESPN and hooked me. We started playing in high school there for awhile...

Haven't played in awhile, but I've been watching these 2005 WSOP re-runs on ESPN lately and been wanting to start playing again. I play online every now and then at PartyPoker.

Cripes... group of friends and I would get together and all put in a dollar or maybe $5 if we were feeling like real high-rollers...

We played a lot for a few months and I ended up about $50 in the positive. There was usually 5 or 6 of us, and we'd split it up to where at least third-place got their entry money back... I wanted to try the winner-take-all... no luck getting that notion backed, bunch of losers.

I don't understand this new poker thing....it's been around for hundreds of years and suddenly within the past 2 years everyone thinks they are cowboys or in the mafia or something...

We have a $20 game every week, anywhere from 8 to 12 players -- all friends. Lots of fun.

The funny thing is that since this Poker craze started, EVERYBODY thinks they can play. They seem to gloss over the fact that it's a little harder when that little camera isn't showing you everybody's down cards.

Yeah. I play from time to time, with friends as well. Just $3 or $5 dollar buy ins to insure competitiveness. I always play balls out with my friends anyways. Most times I am either the winner or make an early exit.

I play online at Pokerroom.com--I like the set-up, but the incentives aren't as good as some of the other sights. I also play in a weekly Country Club game on Wednesday nights. It's a nice form of competition for those of us too old to tote the rock or drive to the hole.

Very true but hey, that fact alone has made me quite a bit of money this year! My mother in law bought me a beautiful oak poker table for christmas this year.....put it in "my" bonus room which includes a few autographed jerseys and my big screen. I call it "my" bonus room because I recently found out my wife is pregnant with the next vol fan so I am sure it will turn into a play room. :biggrin2:
BTW I guess you can tell I am a player by my username.
