Been watching old Oregon games... recent TCU and Iowa State games... they all have the same themes / scenarios playing out.
Spread offenses... quick strikes... quick three and outs... season ending injuries to key players.
Iowa State has pulled some big upsets. However, they also lose to teams they shouldn't because they are so thin. They are on their third quarterback. About the time he gets in a groove, he will get hurt. They have had games where the starting MLB had to take snaps at QB.
TCU lost to a depleted Iowa State team.
Other than Tennessee and Mississippi St (before Dan Mullen,) Oregon got beat by every SEC team they played.
The Vols need a tactician... not a system coach. Being tactical, in the SEC, requires an offensive style that takes into account the health of the team over the course of a physical conference season. That means... POSSESSING THE BALL... and reducing the number of snaps played.
Aggressive offense... yes. No-huddle, speed spread, sideways BS... no more.
So, please... no Campbell, no Kelly, no Patterson.
Mullen - yes. Gruden - Yes. Fuente - Yes. Cutcliffe - yes.
