I was on utvol.com the other day to buy tickets and it’s a shame that there’s only four games out of seven home games that I really wanted to spend money on and make a trip to Knoxville. I can’t speak for everybody but I know that I don’t want to see UTEP, Charlotte, or ETSU. I really hope this changes in the future

At least those are games we will win...probably...

The SEC just put 2 teams into the playoffs, they won't even consider such a thing until only playing 8 conference games cost them a spot in the playoffs. Kinda like how the Big 12 not having a title game a couple years ago cost TCU/Baylor a spot.

The only way I would consider a 9 game league schedule is if the SEC only had 10 teams. Just keep things the way they are.

Logistics are too hard with a 9 game schedule, which is going to give you the same number of SEC home games every other year as you have now. Even numbered schedules give everybody an even slate of home and away games. Tennessee has always done an superb job of scheduling quality out of conference games throughout my lifetime anyway. Notre Dame, Oregon, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA. Just to name a few. Throwing in 2 or 3 cupcakes is really just to fill a schedule and provide an open date of sorts to keep kids rested. Plus, more home games is more $$$ which you'd be giving up every other year with a 9 game schedule.

Be thankful for what you've got. It was forever an 11 game schedule with 6 SEC games and we'd play 3 or 4 games before school was even in session.

No to more in-conference games! Make it less.

There are dozens of interesting matchups in CFP without playing the same teams over and over and over and over year after year. How about we play home and homes against Nebraska, Arizona State, Purdue, Virginia, TCU, ND, Penn State, Washington, FSU, K-State, Texas, or Colorado or or or or ... there are tons of interesting matchups that we'll NEVER see.

Here's my hairbrained solution:
#1 All P5 Teams play a 12 game regular season
#2 Each plays only 6 regular season conference games
#3 Each plays 3 regular season OOC P5 games
#4 Make "conference championship" games part of the playoff
#5 Expand playoff to 16 teams.

Finalists play 16 games maximum. Playoff teams play 13-15 games. Non-playoff teams play 13 games.

Here could be our 2022 schedule with this and a revised SEC ...
Wk1 vs Chattanooga
Wk2 at Iowa St.
Wk3 vs Florida
Wk4 vs FIU
Wk5 vs Texas A&M
Wk6 at Georgia
Wk7 Bye
Wk8 vs Alabama
Wk9 at Wake Forest
Wk10 at Ole Miss
Wk11 vs Fresno St.
Wk12 at Oregon St.
Wk13 vs Vanderbilt

Playoff1 vs LSU
Playoff1 vs Texas Tech
Playoff1 vs USC
Natty vs Penn State

OK, back to my day job.

This won't happen, simply due to the loss of .5 home games a year. With 8 SEC games, we get 4 SEC home games, and 3.5 OOC home games. With 9 SEC games, we get 4.5 SEC home games and 2.5 OOC games. Maybe I'm wrong, but maybe the bigger games makes up for loss of revenue of the home games, I don't know.
