No to more in-conference games! Make it less.
There are dozens of interesting matchups in CFP without playing the same teams over and over and over and over year after year. How about we play home and homes against Nebraska, Arizona State, Purdue, Virginia, TCU, ND, Penn State, Washington, FSU, K-State, Texas, or Colorado or or or or ... there are tons of interesting matchups that we'll NEVER see.
Here's my hairbrained solution:
#1 All P5 Teams play a 12 game regular season
#2 Each plays only 6 regular season conference games
#3 Each plays 3 regular season OOC P5 games
#4 Make "conference championship" games part of the playoff
#5 Expand playoff to 16 teams.
Finalists play 16 games maximum. Playoff teams play 13-15 games. Non-playoff teams play 13 games.
Here could be our 2022 schedule with this and a revised SEC ...
Wk1 vs Chattanooga
Wk2 at Iowa St.
Wk3 vs Florida
Wk4 vs FIU
Wk5 vs Texas A&M
Wk6 at Georgia
Wk7 Bye
Wk8 vs Alabama
Wk9 at Wake Forest
Wk10 at Ole Miss
Wk11 vs Fresno St.
Wk12 at Oregon St.
Wk13 vs Vanderbilt
Playoff1 vs LSU
Playoff1 vs Texas Tech
Playoff1 vs USC
Natty vs Penn State
OK, back to my day job.
