So with LSU and A&M both out of the rankings, that game on Thursday night becomes fairly inconsequential.

In fact, it might even be better now for A&M to win because it prevents one of UF's wins from jumping back into the rankings (and possibly still keeps one of UT's losses looking at least a little bit better).

I'm not so sure of that. A&M could leap back into the rankings. Look at Florida, who jumped 8 spots after beating LSU. With an impressive win on Thursday, A&M could do the same. Probably not enough to leapfrog the Vols at this point, as long as we handle Vandy well, but we could see A&M in this poll again.

~ ~ ~ break/break ~ ~ ~

The CFP Committee doesn't think too much of the SEC. They see us as no better than the third-best conference among the Power 5, at this point.

Who's the deepest conference? The PAC, according to the Committee. They have 6 ranked teams. The B10 is next, with 5. The SEC has 4.

What conference is the best at its top end? That would be the B10. It has four teams in the Top 10: #2 OSU, #3 Michigan, #7 Wisconsin, and #8 Penn State. No other conference has more than two teams in the Top 10 (and the SEC has only one).

Put those two metrics together, and it's clear the CFP Committee sees the SEC as only the third-best conference. Both the B10 and PAC are better in both ways.

Not a good week--or year--for the SEC.

So four SEC teams ranked

1 Bama 11-0

13 AU 8-3

15 FLA 8-2

17 TENN 8-3

With one game to go SEC has two teams from each division in the rankings.

Yeah I think the West is stronger than the East but probably not as much as our miserable whining leads on

Maybe Bama is just that much better than the rest of the SEC?
