Please tell me how we are so far away in terms of talent compared to yall.

Only way we go to playoff is to beat an undefeated Alabama, with UT at FULL HEALTH, in Atlanta. We will prolly be a top 12 team when Playoff Committee releases their rankings. Polls mean nothing.

That's basically what I was saying with my original reply. The only way 2 SEC teams go is if someone beats Bama. The winner of the SECCG is going and if that isn't Alabama then Alabama is going also. I just don't see anyone beating Alabama so it's a mute point.

This team IS playoff good. Our 3rd stringers are talented enough to play with Bama and A&M for 3 quarters or more. This team has some of the most talented players at their positions in the country, including at least one guy who is the best defensive player in the past decade. We have multiple first round talents (doesn't mean they'll go first round) and with one exception none of them have been seriously injured until now. (Hurd's concussion might be relevant, but currently its a one week thing.)

This team is better than it was last year. And last year we should've been in the SECCG and only lost to Bama, with a decent chance of beating them. Unfortunately, coaching cost us 3 wins last year, and it's almost cost us several wins this year, except we've been a fair bit luckier with the way balls bounce.

If you truly don't think THIS team would be in the top 5 right now with Urban Meyer, Saban, Jimbo, Les Miles, James Franklin, Harbaugh, Petrino, Briles, or even some mid level guys like Kiffin and Richt, then you are unfortunately blind.

Yes, Injuries have hurt this team. But No game we've lost is changed by any player being healthy, in fact Hurd at A&M probably makes us lose by more.

The one thing this team doesn't have is consistency. They do not play a full game, ever. They didn't last year and they don't now. And the ONLY thing that can be blamed for consistency or behavior of a team?

Coaches.

We might win it all with talent eventually, I doubt it, but Coker did it. But unless Butch get's his **** together for 4 quarters consistently, we'll be hearing "We're JUST NOT A PLAYOFF TEAM YET!" for 5 or 6 more years and keeping him around because we win 9 games and lose an SEC championship occasionally.

Overrated. You don't stay close to a healthy team. We have had an unprecedented number of starters out this year. The single no call on Berry gave you enough points to win the game. That call made correctly and you are crying in your milk. You were lucky. Period.

We're aren't a great team and neither is A&M. They are slightly ahead of us because of managing to barely beat us. Move on.

Pleasant thread. I think it's a testament to how far we've come to be mentioned in the top 10 of the playoff rankings now.

Getting back to being relevant in the conf and nationally is great considering 2 years ago we were 6-6 and happy with a bowl win.

Are we legitimate playoff contender? I'd say no. Are we legitimate conf contender? Yes.
Top 10 material? Yes.

As for aTm, I don't think there s much difference between us and them, except turnover margin. Aggies can pound chest cause of the scoreboard but they're season is is really just getting started. So we'll see.

Bama is the best team in the country.

So, we're not...shocker. But we're having a good season with all of our goals still out there for us, which considering that's still the case heading in to November... I'd say so far so good.

Damn the rest of it. If ur not happy or proud of what's transpired so far, that's a YOU problem. It's there for us. Now, Go Dawgs.😎

I don't agree. Believe we could hang with all of them if healthy. Jury is still out on how good Michigan is IMO. They have won easily, yes, but they have not yet played the tough teams in their conference.

We would still be 5-2 with all of those coaches you mentioned given the talent on the teams we have played coupled with the injury situation.

Those names you mentioned are not coming to Tennessee as a coach. You need to either get over "who is not our coach" or go support another team.

This constant harping on the coaching staff for a few decisions that even those you mentioned above have also made at key moments in games is getting old.
